16 November 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Under the program of Skill for Life with support of Swades Foundation, Mumbai, the trainees have received course completion certificate from Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) and Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK).

Mr. Satish Girija asked the youths about their learning experience and allowed extra time access to computers. For placement offered trainees, he suggested to accept very first job and to inform immediately if any trouble comes. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma briefed that out of total 50 trainees (General Duty Assistant-33, Basic Computer Applications-11 and Business Process Outsourcing/Call Centre-06), 40 have been offered jobs.

These youths belong to different places like Khalari, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Chatra, Barkagaon, Katkamsandi, Katkamdag, Giridih, Nimiyaghat, Hazaribag etc. Mrs. Sunita Kumari, Ms Priyadarshini Pradhan, Mr. Anurag Shrivastava (all faculties) and Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (mobilizer) have contributed to the event.

13 November 2019, Chakai (Jamui, Bihar) & Deoghar (Jharkhand): Mr. Siddalingesh B B, Coordinator of SBI Gram Seva project, visited project villages at Chakai block in Jamui district of Bihar and at Deoghar Sadar block in Deoghar district (Jharkhand). He met village people to know about the project’s impact. SBI Foundation, Mumbai has adopted 10 villages (5 villages in each block) for their holistic development under SBI Gram Seva being implemented by NBJK.

One Community Information Center and computer lab has been created in each village used by about 300 children and villagers. 32 bathrooms have been constructed and utilized by over 350 women who earlier used to take bath in open. 250+ acres of land is brought under irrigation through motor pumps, ponds and wells constructed/renovated under the project. These are some of the activities done in last two years.

Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK), Mr. Jitendra Kumar (Program Manager, NBJK), Mr. Sudarshan Pandey (Asst. PM, NBJK), Mr. Dhiraj, Mr. Santosh Gautam and others have accompanied Mr. Siddalingesh B B during his visit.

12 November 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): A joint competition as quiz & drawing was held among students of Remedial Coaching Centers (RCCs) with support of HDB Financial Services, Mumbai. For quiz, Rishita Bharti from Amrit Nagar RCC stood first while Lakshmi Kumari (Daroo RCC) and Nisha Kumari (Babhanwai RCC) achieved second & third positions. In drawing competition, Sanjana Kumari (Baiheri RCC) was declared first and followed by Khushi Mishra (Meroo RCC) with Riyanshi Yadav (Rola RCC) as second & third respectively.

All the winners have received their prizes from Mr. Prabhunath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) who appreciated them. In his address to RCCs’ teachers & students, Mr. Sharma suggested to update their GK regularly and appealed for more attention by RCCs of Lalpur & Silwar villages. Total 30 students from RCCs at Amrit Nagar, Rola, Babhanwai, Silwar, Meru, Daroo, Baiheri, Lalpur, Mandai, Jagdishpur villages participated in this competition and all non-winners have got consolation prizes.

Messrs Vikram Kumar, Pintu Kumar (both supervisors), Ganesh Vishwakarma, Ghulam Baquee, Md. Ishrafil, Sahdev Prasad, Sunil Kumar (RCCs’ teachers) have contributed to organize the event. Its significant that with support of HDBFS-Mumbai, NBJK runs RCCs at 20 villages of Hazaribag Sadar and Churchu blocks in Hazaribag district. These centers provide coaching of science, maths and English for more than 700 school girls of class 8, 9 & 10 in these remote villages.

26 October 2019, Ahmedabad: NBJK got awarded with Citation and Rs. 5 Lakhs with the hands of H E Shree Shree Gurudev Ravi Shankar ji given under CSR support of Prasad Groups of company. Mr. Girija Nandan “Girija Satish” (Founder Member & President, NBJK) and Mr. Satish Kumar “Satish Girija” (Founder Member & Secretary, NBJK) have received the award on behalf of the organization.

24 October 2019, Patjori village (Chakai, Jamui): Under the program of SBI Gram Seva with support of SBI Foundation-Mumbai, Kabaddi tournament was organized for youths of Patjori, Chhachudih, Garhi, Heth Chakai and Mangtadih villages of Ramchandradih panchayat. The event was inaugurated by the Mukhiya of this panchayat. Each village team was comprised of 10 members and after several rounds of game, Heth Chakai team was declared as champion due to best performance. The branch manager of SBI-Chakai distributed prizes among winner and other teams.

28 October 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): A joint meeting of teachers & parents held under the programme of Remedial Coaching Centres (RCCs) for Girls with support of Action Village India, United Kingdom. The meeting was participated by teachers and parents of students from 15 RCCs running in villages of Sadar, Katkamsandi & Katkamdag blocks.

Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager, NBJK) has welcomed all the participants and said that the programme is intended to reduce school dropout rate among rural girl children and to make them safe from child marriage, a malpractice still prevailing in villages. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) requested the parents to get regular feedback from their daughters about academic activities and to provide them facility for at least 4 hours study at home. He suggested the parents to call upon 1098, Childline’s toll free number and to share it with their wards to get help if they face any problem. This doesn’t disclose identity of complainant or victim, Mr. Sharma clarified. Ms Nikky Soren (Program Officer, NBJK) appealed to encourage girls for better schooling as this can realize their dreams.

During the meeting, many teachers and parents expressed their views and requested for additional RCCs to absorb more girls. The parents became agree to visit centre, to meet teacher and to send their daughters at RCC on time. Total 55 teachers & parents have contributed in the meeting. Mr. Abhay Kumar (Supervisor, NBJK) anchored the proceeding and thanked all at the end.

23-25 October 2019, Hazaribag: Under the program of Support to Small Initiatives with help of Bread for the World, Germany, three days training camp upon High Value Agriculture was organized  for VOs from Jharkhand & Bihar.

This aimed to introduce innovative farming towards food security in the areas where these small voluntary organizations work. In presence of Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Mukul Tiru (a lakhpati farmer with NBJK Khunti intervention) has oriented the trainees to prepare plants systematically as in a nursery. He made them to sow around 8000 seeds of capsicum, cauliflower, tomato, papaya by using coco-pit, pro-tray & organic fertilizer. Next day the participants have been introduced to package of practices to grow watermelon, tomato, cabbage with help of video clips. Also they learnt to make & use organic compost, pesticide, Azolla pit etc. On 25th October, the trainees went for exposure and visited some progressive farmers’ crops of chilli, tomato & cabbage at Sila, Birhu, Ichak villages in Chatra district. These farmers are promoted by Lok Prerna Kendra, Simariya (Chatra), a network VO. Also a meeting was organized with the farmers at Ichak Panchayat Bhawan.

The training was participated by 27 VOs representatives from Ranchi, Dhanbad, Koderma, Chatra, Bokaro, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Chhapra, Nawada, Nalanda, Gaya districts. Mr. Rajeev Singh, Mr. Abhay Kumar and Ms Nikky Soren (all NBJK) have organized the event.

22 October 2019, Hazaribag: Under the program of Providing Continuous Support to Marginalized Mentally Ill People with help of Bread for the World-Germany, monthly mental health camp was organized with support of RINPAS (Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry & Allied Sciences), Kanke, Ranchi.

A medical team comprising of psychiatrists, paramedical staff and students visited this outreach camp. They ensured treatment with medicines for 847 patients of mental illness & epilepsy. The patients have come from remote places of Hazaribag, Katkamdag, Charhi, Katkamsandi,  Keredari, Chouparan, Padma, Mayurhand, Itkhori, Chatra, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Nawada, Koderma and West Bengal.

NBJK staffs like Mrs. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Pratima Devi, Mrs. Mary Hansda, Mr. Alok Toppo, Mr. Om Prakash Gupta, Mr. Kamal Kant Pandey, Mr. Sujit Mishra and Mr. Mahadev have played important role in organizing the camp.

21 October 2019, Hazaribag: NBJK run Family Counselling Centre with support of Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi and Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board, Ranchi has organized it’s sub-committee meeting at the premises of Women Police Station, Hazaribag.

Mr. Krishna Kumar Saha (Officer In-charge) presided the meeting and suggested for proper publicity of FCC in town & villages as a body to resolve family disputes. He asked about the cases to be addressed after making contact with CDPOs (Child Development Project Officers), home visits accordingly for factual report and justice delivery for victims. Other members have advised unanimously that CDPOs should be invited in meetings and all members must provide their inputs to solve any tough case that comes to FCC or Women PS.

In the meeting, Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, FCC) tabled quarterly report of Family Counselling Centre which registered 27 cases as couple dispute (18), liquor caused violence (05), conflict with son/daughter-in-law (02), domestic clash (01) and land discord (01) during the period of August-October 2019. She informed about disposal of 11 cases.

Mrs. Munni Kumari Devi, Mrs. Sheela Kumari, Ms. Veena Sethi, Mrs. Sharda Devi, Mr. Tulsi Dubey, Mr. Arvind Jha, Mrs. Annie Thomas, Mrs. Beli Devi and Mr. Sanjay Kumar have attended the meeting.

17-23 October 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): 35 women from Katkamdag and Katkamsandi blocks went through one week residential training upon advance tailoring skills & maintenance of sewing machine under Swavlamban project with support of Usha International Ltd. and SIDBI.

Mr. Ritesh Lohani (Program Officer, Usha International Ltd.) briefed that Swavlamban aims for economic self-reliance of 20,000 women of Jharkhand, Bihar, U P, Rajasthan, Telangana and execution of the pilot project for 1000 women is going on currently.

During these 7 days, women have learnt intricacies of sewing machine and tailoring skill. This was second batch of the trainees and post-training performance of some first batch (27 Sep-02 Oct) women like Mrs. Pammi Devi (village-Mandai Khurd), Mrs. Nusrat Parveen (vill-Noora), Mrs. Gayatri Devi (vill-Amli), Mrs. Punam Devi (vill-Basobar) were assessed by Mr. Shivendra Maurya (Manager, SIDBI-Delhi), Mr. Alok Shikla (GM, Usha International Ltd.), Mr. Asif Hussain and Mr. Maninder Kumar (Usha International-Ranchi). The visitors expressed satisfaction over entrepreneurship of those beneficiaries.

During closing ceremony of the training, each trainee shared her learning experience and received certificate, hoarding for silai school and sewing machine from Mr. Shivendra Maurya (Manager, SIDBI-Delhi), Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK), Mr. Prabu Nath sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) and Mr. Ritesh Lohani (Program Officer, Usha International Ltd.).

On this occasion, Mr. Shivendra Maurya encouraged the trainees that they can enhance their income by making garments of daily use, cloth bags (as the Prime Minister announced to get rid of single use plastic) and providing tailoring training to neighborhood youths/women. Mr. Satish Girija expected for income generation by women after this training & orientation with new sewing machines. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma had appreciation for Swavlamban and the project is in interest of rural women, he said.

The trainers’ team was comprised of Mrs. Sandhya Agrawal, Mrs. Sangita Jaiswal, Mrs. Savita Thakur, Mr. Kamaljeet and Mr. Balveer while Mr. Shailesh Kumar and Mr. Bhuneshwar Prasad (both from NBJK) looked after the management.
