02 January 2020, Charkapathar (Saraiyahat), Dumka: Under the auspices of NBJK run Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital with support of CBM-Bangalore, a modern Vision Center started at village-Charkapathar in Saraiyahat block of Dumka district. This was inaugurated by Mr. Sukhdev Marandi (Block Pramukh) in presence of Mr. Harilal Hansda (Mukhiya), Mrs. Basanti Murmu (Mukhiya), Mr. Dev Narayan Yadav, Mr. Bhagwat Ravidas, Mr. Anand Abhinav, Dr. (Mrs.) Megha, Mr. Amrit Paswan (Manager, NBJK-Dumka), Mr. Anirvan Panda (Manager, LNJP Eye Hospital-Dumka) and others. Mrs. Basanti Murmu said that due to lack of any Eye Care Center in the area, people were suffering a lot as such services are available far-away at Deoghar or Dumka. Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK) has assured the villagers for free eye check up facility at this vision center and people need to pay fair price only for medicines & specs, he said.

01 January 2020, Bodhgaya: The Children of Lord Buddha Home for Children, Silaunja (BodhGaya), Gaya have celebrated New Year with a picnic in the campus. They organized a feast, enjoyed with cooking and sharing of tasty food together.

27 December 2019, Chouparan (Hazaribag): NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribag) has organized training upon Cataract Evaluation & Vision for 60 ASHA workers at Community Health Centre, Chouparan. Messrs Karunanidhi (DPM-REH, Chatra/Hazaribag), Vikant Singh, Sunny Gupta & others have contributed the training held as an activity of Netra Vasant – Jharkhand Rural Eye Health Program with support of Sightsavers, National Program for Control of Blindness and Govt. of Jharkhand.

26 – 28 December 2019, Patna: 90 members of Child Rights Protection Committees from 10 slum pockets of Patna went under training towards realization of Children’s Rights to their Survival, Protection, Participation and Development as an activity of KNH-Germany supported Sakcham program.

25 December 2019, Silaunja (BodhGaya), Gaya: Christmas day was celebrated with much fanfare at NBJK run orphanage Lord Buddha Home for Children with support of Stichting Kinderhulp Bodhgaya, The Netherlands. The orphan children have greeted each other, organized cultural program and enjoyed delicious food on this occasion.

24 December 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): NBJK run Remedial Coaching Centers (RCCs) with support of HDBFSL-Mumbai have organized Teachers-Parents Meeting at co-ordination office. The meeting was attended by teachers from 20 RCCs and parents of the girls enrolled there.

On this occasion, Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer-NBJK & Program Co-ordinator) addressed the participants and called them holy beings as per the Indian tradition that places mother, father & teacher equal to deities since they build person and society. He explained about the objective of RCCs especially for girls and appealed the parents to deny marriage of daughters before their age of 18 years and to provide them equal opportunity like sons.

Also Messrs Abhay Kumar, Pintu Kumar (supervisors), Om Prakash, Anand Singh, Sahdev Prasad, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Nivas Bharti, Sanjay Kumar, Yogendra, Shyam Kumar Pandey, Imtiyaz Ansari (teachers) have thrown light over importance of girls’ education. From parents’ side, Mrs. Meena Prajapati, Mrs. Kunti Devi, Mrs. Hevanti Devi, Mrs. Poonam Devi, Mrs. Sarita Devi and Mrs. Kaushalya Devi have enriched the meeting with their ideas. They appreciated the very program of RCCs and said about its benefit reached to the people before and still to their daughters. All have insisted for better harmonization among students, RCCs, teachers and parents.

21 December 2019, Bahera (Chouparan), Hazaribag: At NBJK run Surekha Pakash Bhai Public School, a Science-cum-Culinary Skills Exhibition was organized gracefully and inaugurated by Mr. Nitin Kr. Singh (Officer-in-Charge, Chouparan Police Station) and Mrs. Sheela Kumai (Secretary, Stri Shakti-Hazaribag) jointly They have attended the function as chief and distinguished guests respectively. Also they inaugurated a newly constructed basketball court in the school campus. Both the guests were accompanied by Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) and welcomed with bouquets. The chief guest was honored with a shawl by the school family led by Ms Rina Pandey (Principal, SPPS) on this occasion.

The guests have appreciated models as well as dishes prepared by the students. Mr. Nitin Kr. Singh (Chief Guest) valued such educational initiative by NBJK in this rural area and encouraged the children to acquire scientific knowledge in this modern age. It’s noteworthy that SPPS students have displayed more than 50 models including Chandrayan-2, Periscope, Smart Washing Machine, Water Filter, Electric Smoke Observer, Vacuum Cleaner, Water Rocket, Smart Air Conditioner, Wind Mill, Rain Water Harvesting and many others.

Also they prepared and served many delicious dishes like Pani-Puri, Litti-Chokha, Chhola-Batura, Alu Chop, Bread Chop, Chaat, Samosa, Chaumin, Pasta etc. with Tea & Coffee to the guests, parents & visitors. All the people have expressed a lot of admiration for the principal, teachers and students for such pleasant event.

19 December 2019, Khunti : Under the joint auspices of NBJK, Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan producer Co. Ltd. and CInI Tata Trust, a Menstruation Health Management Fair held at Bichna Upgraded Primary School ground in Murhu block of Khunti district. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Prabhat Kumar (Civil Sugeon), Mr. Mohit Purty (Manager, NBJK-Khunti) and Mrs. Chitralekha Choudhary (Project’s state anchor) jointly.

Dr. Prabhat Kumar expressed distress over decreasing number of daughters and said that we must add Beti Badhao to the slogan of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. He provided elaborated information upon menstruation and appealed to come out from conservative ideas to prioritize health & hygiene. Mrs. Chitralekha Choudhary has focused upon project’s objective to make women safe from various diseases by promoting hygiene during menstruation and informed that women are making sanitary pads by cloth in villages under the project. She appreciated NBJK for making adolescent girls & women aware so that they can discuss this natural process and adopt its scientific management.

During the fair, Dr. Monica Bajray provided treatment to women suffering from problems related to menses. Also she has cleared related doubts & fear. There were stalls where women have made reusable & eco-friendly sanitary napkins and school children presented cultural activities. Also they participated in experience sharing sessions to break their silence over an important issue for them. Mrs. Kanan Bala Tirkey, Mr. Anil Hassa, Ms Roshni Topno (MHO Co-ordinator), Mrs. Dayamani Nag have led the event successfully.

03 December 2019, Dumka: World Disability Day was celebrated under Community Based Inclusive Development of Persons with Disabilities at Kathikund, Jarmundi, Jama & Dumka Sadar blocks of the district. There were activities like sports, voters’ awareness rally and cultural events on the occasion. In her address to Persons with Disabilities at Dumka, Mrs. Rajeshwari B. (Dy. Commissioner) stressed upon realization of their rights. She appreciated PwDs’ participation in LokSabha election and ensured for wheelchair & vehicles at polling booths. Also Child Development Project, Jharkhand Education Project & SVEEP cell contributed to celebrate the day.

02 December 2019, Ranchi: On the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a sensitization program for electoral with disabilities was organized at Darbhanga House by Sightsavers in association with CCL, NGOs & Disabled People’s Organizations in Jharkhand NBJK represented by Ms Shaily Mukherji from it’s Ranchi office.
