26 January 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Nation’s 71st Republic Day has been celebrated with full zest at NBJK’s coordination office, branch offices and schools.

At C O, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) unfurled the tricolour flag and led group recitation of national anthem. In his address, he referred Indian Constitution as guiding principle and talked about fundamental rights of citizens. There are problems of poverty, unemployment; education, health; agriculture etc. and they must be addressed with decentralized as well as pro-farmer economic policy by the government, he opined. In Jharkhand we need proper irrigation facility for farmers and we should adopt drip irrigation system to save water, Mr. Girija Satish suggested. Likewise social evils as superstition, liquor and women atrocity can be countered by promotion of scientific perspective, NBJK President added. He conveyed best wishes to all on the occasion.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) congratulated all and said about transparency, honesty, activity and result maintained by NBJK during last 50 years. He reminded the staffs about Golden Jubilee year of NBJK to be celebrated in 2020. Mr. Satish Girija has quoted verses of famous Hindi poet Late Maithily Sharan Gupt which means Never to be afraid of death, one never dies if lives for others, only feeding ourselves is an animal instinct, a true human being lives or dies for others.

Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) appealed the people for self-analysis to decide right direction of life. For a balanced life, we must consider Dharma and Moksha along with Artha & Kama, he advised.

Around 100 trainees, beneficiaries and staffs have participated in the event.

26 January 2020, Bahera (Hazaribag): On the occasion of Republic Day, NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School has organized a number of activities before Mr. Ivan Nutbrown and Mr. Michael Alan Willis, the distinguished guests from United Kingdom accompanied by Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK), Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK), Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Director, NBJK), Mrs. Sheela Kumari (Secretary, Stri Shakti), Mrs. Damini Gaurav (Director, Crops and Bobbers) & others.

Ms. Rina Pandey (Principal, SPBPS), teachers and students have welcomed the guests with traditional etiquette and parading students have escorted them up to the ground. Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has hoisted national flag and recited national anthem with all. The students have performed a well disciplined parade on the day and presented a wide range of cultural activities.

Mr. Ivan Nutbrown appreciated the program. In his concluding address, Mr. Girija Satish provided character building tips to the children and said about the qualities of truthfulness, cleanliness, logical mindset, hard labour, respect to elders, social harmony, message of love from all faiths, frugality, vegetarianism, rational decision making and so on. He appealed them to keep distance from bad habits/company and cell phone also.

Ms. Rina Pandey thanked all teachers, students and school management committee for the support to make the day unforgettable.

24 January 2020, Bokaro : Certificate distribution cum alumni meet ceremony has been organised by Bokaro team of NBJK and CSR team of Vedanta under Skill development programme at Siyaljori Village near Chas, Bokaro.

Mr. Philmon (DDM, NABARD), Mr. Satish Girija (Secratery, NBJK), Panchayat Pradhan (Mukhiya) and other prominent persons from project villages were present in the event. Trainee youths have participated and performed some cultural activities to make it a great success.

Total 180 students have received their course completion certificates for the trades of Basic Computer Applications, General Duty Assistant, Cell Phone Repair, Beautician and Safety Gloves Making.

22 January 2020,Hazaribag: CSWB-Delhi & JSSWB-Ranchi supported Family Counselling Centre by NBJK has called it’s sub-committee meeting at Women police station of Hazaribag.

The meeting was presided by Mr. Krishna Kumar Saha (Officer In-charge, Women PS) who suggested launching a campaign to make men-women aware of peaceful family life. Among present members of the sub-committee, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) advised to constitute a women cell which can support to settle family disputes. Mrs. Munni Kumari (ASI, Women PS) said about fixing of FCC banner/board at strategic spots as many suffering women or men have no access to right person or agency.

During the meeting, Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, FCC) has tabled quarterly report before the members and informed about total 32 cases registered from Nov’19 to Jan’20. Out of these cases, wife-husband dispute counts (19), alcoholism (08), dispute with son/daughter-in-law (02), land dispute (01), extra-marital (01), neighborhood clash (01) and overall 17 cases have been reconciliated, she updated.

Also Mrs. Neera Rezina Purty (ASI, Women PS), Mrs. Sheela Kumari (Secretary, Stri Shakti), Mr. Tulsi Dubey, Mr. Arvind Jha (advocate), Mr. Umesh Kumar (HolyCross), Mrs. Sharda Devi and Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Counsellor, FCC) were present in the meeting.

20 January 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): As an activity of the program of Enabling Social Activists to Reduce Poverty as well as to Ensure Food Security with support of Bread for the World-Germany, a follow up cum orientation meeting was called at NBJK coordination office.

Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager) has moderated the meeting focused upon profitable agriculture. He provided tips for land/seed preparation, green house caring, irrigation, organic fertilizer, pest control and water saving technique like drip irrigation.

The chief executives of 20 small VOs from Bokaro, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribag, Dhanbad, Giridih, Nawada, Gaya districts of Jharkhand-Bihar have participated in the meeting. They support farmers in their work areas.

18 January 2020, Kajha (Gaya, Bihar): With the intention to serve about 7 lakhs people of Gaya, Nawada & Jehanabad districts (Bihar), WEN Giving Foundation-Australia and Mission for Vision-India have supported NBJK to set up LNJP Eye Hospital at Kajha which is equipped with all modern facilities. This 21000 sq. feet and 40-bed secondary eye hospital inside a campus of 01 acre 08 decimal land will adopt a self-financed approach with service charge for capable and subsidized or free of cost treatment for poor people like LNJPEH at Chouparan (Hazaribag) and Dumka.

Dr. Prem Kumar (Agriculture Minister, Bihar) has inaugurated the hospital with Mr. Vijay Manjhi (MP, Gaya), Mr. Awdhesh Kr. Singh (MLA, Wazirganj), Mr. Sanjiv Shyam Singh (MLC) and Mrs. Jyoti Manjhi (Ex-MLA, Barachatti). Also Mrs. Mei Wen (Founder, WGF), Ms. Elizabeth Kurian (CEO, MfV) and their team members were present on this occasion.

In his welcome address, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) said about specific features of the hospital which fulfils all criteria like rooms, staff, modular OT, R O water plant, fire safety, branded equipments, camera, intercom, infection free treatment and many more to provide quality service for common people. He dedicated LNJPEH-Kajha to the people of Magadh region with a commitment to develop it as an ideal eye hospital and requested the Government to support it under Ayushman Bharat/DBCS.

Dr. Prem Kumar (Minister) called LNJPEH as a direct benefit for public and thanked NBJK, MFV & WGF for such initiative. Mr. Vijay Manjhi (MP) termed the hospital as a long awaited boon to mass and assured for all possible support. Mr. Awdhesh Kr. Singh (MLA) appreciated NBJK & support organizations for taking care of needy people and promised to co-operate the effort.

Speaking on the partnership, Mrs. Mei Wen (Founder, WGF) mentioned mother Ganga, the river as a flow of life for all and said about equal opportunity for youth, especially young women through education and training. She assured to make people’s live better by providing them eye care facility under partnership with MFV & NBJK. Ms. Elizabeth Kurian (CEO, MFV) said that in view of the inadequate eye health services available in this region, LNJPEH will play a crucial role to eradicate needless blindness. She expressed gratefulness to all the partners involved in this initiative.

At the end, Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Director-Eye Care, NBJK) thanked the guests, expressed sincere gratitude to all organizations supported NBJK’s eye care program and appreciated the people involved in construction work of LNJPEH-Kajha. He valued the co-operation from people’s representatives and local community as they stood by NBJK always. Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) was present during the function and Mrs. Dolly Gaurav anchored the dais.     

Many prominent persons, media correspondents and Govt. officials were present in the inaugural ceremony. More than 1000 people from villages have attended the function and many of them have availed the facility of free eye check up camp organized on the day.

18 January 2020, Hazaribag : The teachers of 20 Remedial Coaching Centres running for girls in the villages of Sadar, Katkamsandi & Katkamdag blocks with support of Action Village India, U. K. have participated in an one day orientation training especially organized for them under the program.

How can we support our students to get good marks in 10th class board examination is the objective of this orientation training, Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (program coordinator & treasurer-NBJK) introduced before RCC teachers and said that the subjects of English, science, maths play crucial role to decide academic roadmap  of students.

As the resource persons, Mr. Ganesh Vishwakarma provided tips about teaching method as well as syllabus of science & maths to participant teachers while Mr. Dilip Kumar Ray has focused upon English. Both of them oriented RCC teachers towards interesting teaching methodology and about retention of taught materials inside their students. Also Ms. Nikky Soren (program manager) and Mr. Abhay Kumar (program supervisor) have motivated the trainees to teach sincerely as board examination is going to be conducted soon.

Many RCC teachers like Md. Farukh, Md. Jawed, Md. Mehtab, Md. Danish, Mr. Dhananjay, Mr. Vikas Kr. Pandey, Mr. Anant Ram, Mr. Randhir Kumar, Mr. Sajan Kumar, Mr. Ravi, Mr. Ganesh Yadav, Mr. Ajit Gope, Mr. Chandar Yadav, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Mr. Ravindra Kr. Mehta, Mr. Rajkumar Saw, Mr. Shankar Kr. Saw were present in this orientation training. It’s noteworthy that total 750 girl students of class 8, 9 & 10 are getting extra classes of science, maths & English at RCCs in 20 villages.

13 January 2020, (Amrit Nagar) Hazaribag: Under Skill for Life program with support of Swades Foundation, Mumbai, pass out trainees have received course completion certificate and job offer in a simple ceremony.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) and Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer-NBJK & Program Manager) have awarded them certificate and asked for their feedback regarding two months residential training with trades of Basic Computer Applications, Business Process Outsourcing and General Duty Assistant.

In this batch, total 40 youths have been provided the training, 33 have received job offer and 27 are females among placed trainees. Others may get their placement shortly.

Mrs. Sunita Kumari, Ms. Praiyadarshini Pradhan, Mr. Anurag Kumar (faculties) and Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (mobilizer) were present in the event. New batch started with 48 youths from villages in Hazaribag, Chatra & Bokaro districts.

10-23 January 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Usha International and NBJK have organized residential training on tailoring for 52 women under Swawlamban scheme run jointly by SIDBI & Usha International, Delhi. The trainees came in two batches from different villages in Hazaribag Sadar, Daroo, Katkamdaag, Katkamsaandi, Ramgarh Sadar blocks of Hazaribag & Ramgarh districts. 30 women have got the training during 10-16 January while 22 trainees joined the program during 17-23 January.

In anaugural function, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has briefed about different programs by the organization and valued the training for development of women entrepreneurship. This training will facilitate women to become sewing machine mechanic, tailoring instructor & tailoring shop owner, he said and suggested the trainees to maintain a daily register for their work as well as income at tailoring schools they will start after training. He put examples of several trained women under the program who earn about Rs. 10,000 or more by their tailoring schools.

On this occasion, Mr. Ritesh Lohani (Program Officer, Usha International) appealed the women to take this training sincerely and upgrade their skills with Usha Company, a reliable manufacturer of sewing machines. After the training, their tailoring schools will enable girls/women to be empowered for a social change in future, he opined.

The trainers’ team was comprised of Mrs. Sumanlata Agrawal, Mrs. Sandhya Agrawal, Mr. Kamaljeet and Mr. Gopal. Each trainee has got a brand-new sewing machine and resource materials from Usha Company. Mr. Shailesh Kumar and Mr. Bhuwaneshwar Prasad (Program Staffs, NBJK) have played key role in organizing the training.

02 & 03 January 2020, Hazaribag: Meetings held with Jagriti Carers Group at village-Jalma (block-Katkamsandi), Jagriti Carers Group at village-Damodih (block-Hazaribag Sadar) and Lakshmi Carers Group at Hurhuru (block-Hazaribagh Sadar) in Hazaribag district. Mr. Rajkumar and Mr. Sujit Mishra from Carers program team have facilitated the beneficiaries for their capacity building and income generation activities.
