#NBJKFightsCorona COVID-19, Medical Utilities @abcapital to Hazaribag Sadar Hospital, Active in Other Districts Too.

On 7th April 2020 at Hazaribag Sadar Hospital, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) handed over a number of medical utilities as surgical gloves (2000 pairs), general gloves (1900 pairs), N 95 mask (90 pcs), surgical mask (500 pcs), shoe cover (400 pairs), surgical gown (25 pcs), PPE Kit (03 pcs), head cover cap (400 pcs) to Dr. Krishna Kumar (Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag). These clinical items are for identification or caring of COVID infected/suspicious people as well as for safety of doctors & medical team. Also 10 infrared thermometers will be made available to the hospital within next two days.

Mr. Satish Girija said that 273 migrant laborers are safe at NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital & SPP School-Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribag), now functioning as quarantine centers and we sent general gloves (100 pairs), N 95 mask (10 pcs), shoe cover (24 pairs), head cover cap (100 pcs), sanitizer (100 ml vial, 100 pcs), infrared thermometer (01 pc) there.  Also we serve breakfast-tea to quarantined people and caring them 24 hrs, he added.

NBJK Secretary informed that in Churchu (Hazaribag) block @Plan_India we make awareness call to around 200 families daily and will provide dry ration to deprived people as well as masks-gloves-sanitizers to the CHC soon.

In different blocks of Dumka district, groceries are being distributed among underprivileged/PwDs @CBMIndia and medical utilities will be offered to Dumka sadar hospital shortly.

Likewise in rural areas of Khunti district, @tatatrusts @cinicell NBJK is operating 15 community kitchens, ensured food-soap for 250 needy families, provided free cold storage service to farmers, displayed awareness flexes and deputed 5 volunteers at district control room.

Mr. Satish Girija expressed confidently that in collaboration with the government and support organizations, NBJK’s pro people intervention will facilitate many disadvantaged people to survive during this global crisis.

#VedantaESLSkillDevelopmentProgram Contributes with Face Masks @ElectrosteelS @VedantaF

20 March 2020, Bokaro: Team NBJK-Bokaro and CSR Vedanta have taken the initiative of making face mask with a fair price to reduce the crisis of mask at the local markets.

Total 11 Sewing Centers and 1 Hand Gloves Making Unit have started  production of face masks with the target of making 5000 masks within 3 days to prevent the panic of COVID-19 to some extent and to infuse a sense of security among common people.

The program is being run by NBJK in 29 villages of Chas and Chandankiyari blocks of Bokaro district in Jharkhand with CSR support of Electrosteel Steels Ltd., a Vedanta Group Company.

#CapacityBuildingTraining for Partner VOs @bread4theworld

16-17 March 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): 2 days Capacity Building training camp for small VOs of Jharkhand-Bihar took place under the program by NBJK upon Poverty Eradication, Food Security & Treatment for People with Mental Illness & Epilepsy (PwMIE) with support of Bread for the World, Germany.

During the training, Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager) has discussed upon food security through technical-monetary support to farmers, skill development among rural women and treatment access for PwMIE identified at ground level. He collected feedback from partner VOs for achievement appraisal and stressed upon increased participation of beneficiary farmers-women-PwMIE to run the program more efficiently. Many VOs have cited about local problems in the field and got suggestions accordingly.

 It’s worth mentioning that every year 636 farmers get support on food security, 528 rural women receive tailoring training and about 1300 PwMIE find treatment with medicines in mental health camps being organized at Hazaribag, Gaya & Patna each month through the program.

The chief functionaries of 27 VOs from Sasaram, Gaya, Chhapra, Samastipur, Motihari, Nawada, Patna, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribag districts of Bihar & Jharkhand have participated in the training. Mr. Shankar Rana (Asst. Program Manager) has coordinated the affairs.

Certificate with Placement to Trainees of #SkillForLife Trainees @WeareSwades @HSBC

14 March 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): The trainee youths of Skill for Life program with support of Swades Foundation, Mumbai have been awarded with course completion certificates & job offers in a simple ceremony organized at NBJK coordination office. They went through a 2 months skill development training in trades of General Duty Assistant, Basic Computer Applications and Business Process Outsourcing.

On this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) conveyed his best wishes to the passing out batch and suggested to welcome placement offer for work experience. With capacitating yourself, you can grab better job opportunities in future; he suggested the youths and ensured them for all support if any problem comes at work place. Mr. Satish Girija appealed the youngsters to link other friends with this program. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer-NBJK & Program In-charge) bestowed compliments to all students and anticipated for their good performance. Mr. Kirti Rawat (Placement Officer, NBJK) briefed about expectations of any employer, recommended for an impressive resume and asked to put hesitation aside to work at new place. Also the trainees have praised NBJK & faculty team for all arrangements and care during this residential course.

It’s noteworthy that out of total 52 youths enrolled here, 34 have got job. They came from villages of Hazaribag, Chatra, Bokaro, Giridih districts and got placement at Hazaribag, Ranchi, Ramgarh & Bagodar (Giridih). Mrs. Sunita Kumari, Ms. Priyadarshini Pradhan, Mr. Rohit Kumar (Faculty Members) and Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (Mobilizer) played important role in organizing the event.

Women’s Convention Demands to #BanLiquor

12 March 2020, Simla (Kharsawan): Women’s convention under joint auspices of NBJK’s network VO Lokhit Sanstha and Saraikela Kharsawan District Lok Samiti, was inaugurated by Mrs. Chami Murmu  (Honoured with Nari Shakti Award from Hon. President of India). She put stress upon change in mindset to prohibit liquor and said that women in remote towns & villages are still waiting for their independence. Humanity is incomplete without women’s stake and their voice shouldn’t be unheard, she pointed out.

The convention demanded for complete ban upon liquor in Jharkhand and many speakers have drawn attention of the state government towards pathetic condition of the families where alcoholism engulfs most of the income, youngsters became liquor addicts and crimes against women or road accidents are on rise. Mrs. Kunti Bahen, Mrs. Sandhya Mahto, Mrs. Sarojini Tudu, Mrs. Saloni Hansda, Mrs. Padmavati Mahto, Mrs. Lakshmi Jyotishi, Mrs. Mamta Murmu, Mr. Angura Mahto, Dr. Manoj Kumar and others have contributed to the program.

Rohtas District Lok Samiti Contributes to #Women’sDay

08 March 2020, Akodhi Gola (Rohtas): International Women’s Day celebrated at Gandhi Seva Ashram under joint auspices of Jan Adhikar Foundation & Rohtas district unit of Lok Samiti.

Er. Satyanarayan Singh (MLA, Dehri), Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (Coordinator, National Lok Samiti), Mr. Shivji Singh (General Secretary, Bihar State Lok Samiti), Mr. Anil Prasad (Officer-in-Charge, Akodhi Gola PS) have inaugurated the program. The MLA has informed people, particularly women about govt. schemes, 50% reservation for them in PRIs and praised their sense of responsibility. Mr. K. G. Azad symbolized the day for women empowerment while Mr. Shivji Singh demanded for more representation of women in all walks of life. Mr. Anil Prasad has appealed for liquor-free Holi.

The program was chaired by Mrs. Pratima Kumari (Teacher). More than hundred women, social workers, farmers and villagers have participated in women’s day function.

08 March 2020, Patna: A seminar upon violence and gender discrimination to women has been organized at NBJK-Patna office with support of Bread for the World, Germany.

The speakers have expressed grave concern over rising incidents of violence and discrimination against women. Most of the participants have insisted for equal treatment to women and said that we too deserve honour like our male counterparts.

Honour for #AntiLiquorWomenVolunteers on Women’s Day

08 March 2020, Hasandag (Meral, Garhwa): On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Women Honour Ceremony was organised by the network VO Janak Vikas Dhara and District Lok Samiti, Garhwa.

The program held at Panchayat Secretariat premises and Mr. Dilip Khalkho (Dy. Superintendent of Police) was the chief guest on this occasion who praised women for their efforts towards liquor prohibition. He remembered his mother who was an Aanganwadi worker and campaigned against Handiya (local booze) with other malpractices in his village. We must oppose witchcraft, alcoholism and child marriage to make a better society, Mr. Khalkho said and honoured 80 anti-liquor women volunteers with shawl & memento.
