Dr. Nand Lal Prasad (In-charge, Community Health Centre, Wazirganj) was the guest of honour who cut the cake on this occasion and accompanied by Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) and doctors of LNJPEH. Dr. Prasad has assured to cooperate for quality Cataract surgery of people in this area.

Mr. Gandharv Gaurav has briefed about this well equipped and modern eye hospital with 40 beds functioning under the guidelines of Central/State Government and provides free of cost or subsidized treatment to poor people. Within last one year, the hospital has conducted 10298 OPD and 3151 cataract surgeries successfully, out of which 2520 surgeries were free of cost, Mr. Gaurav said during the function.

Dr. Ashutosh Anand has appreciated the staffs of LNJPEH Kajha for such good performance of the hospital. Mr. Girija Satish has thanked the hospital team for their hard work and conveyed his best wishes. Lok Samiti & NBJK Welcome #FarmerAgitators from Odisha

17 January 2021, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribag): At NBJK’s Bahera Ashram, the workers of Hazaribag District Lok Samiti & Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra have welcomed around 500 farmers from Odisha going to Delhi via Bhubaneswar, Khadagpur, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Hazaribag, Gaya, Banaras and Lucknow.

On this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti & NBJK) has greeted them and called the Farmers’ Agitation as a big spontaneous protest. He said about their 5 months plus demonstration as a most impressive people’s movement since independence. Mr. Girija stated that the agriculture related three laws by our central government are not in interest of farmers and these will be harmful for them. National Lok Samiti’s president has termed the provisions of contract farming as anti-farmers and said that these would benefit big companies and the farmers who are owners of their land presently will be compelled to work as laborers on their own land later. These laws permit big traders for desired hoarding of agriculture products, while a farmers doesn’t possess such resources to keep own products safely for long time. Also it’s said that the farmer can sell his produces at preferred places but practically we see that he is unable to vend his crop in distant areas and that means profit to rich people again. Besides this there is no guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers for their crops. Thus the legal necessity of MSP is must and the government should make concerned law so that the farmers could get proper price. Mr. Girija Satish has appreciated the farmers for awareness towards their problems and said that our hundreds of companions have left their home and stuck in Delhi amid cold wave to oppose Agriculture Laws and many of them passes away, which is a matter of deep concern. There is growing support to the movement by intellectuals from India & abroad and our government should address the problems of farmers immediately, he pointed out.

Mr. Akshay Kumar who leads the farmer agitators has blamed the central government for averting the solution in name of negotiation and willing to make a way for corporate monopoly from seed to fertilizer. He is coordinator of Joint Farmers’ Front, belongs to Katak district of Odisha and worked with Baba Amte and Anna Hazare earlier. Also other farmer leaders as Mr. Shashidev Nanda (Odisha), Mr. Himanshu Tiwary (U. P.), Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Mr. Om Prakash (Tata Nagar) were present in the welcome meeting. Cataract Eradication Campaign by LNJP Eye Hospital @BHEL_India @BHELOfficial

07 January 2021, Patratu (Ramgarh): under Corporate Social Responsibility of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital has organized Eye Screening Camp at local Sai Nursing Home and launched Cataract Eradication Campaign in the area. The program was graced by senior officials from NBJK & BHEL.

On this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) introduced about various programs by NBJK, mentioned its eye health care initiative for common people and appreciated BHEL for the support. Mr. S. Gangopadhyay (GM, BHEL) said about the construction work they are assigned for at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited and briefed upon BHEL’s CSR activities. He praised LNJPEH for the target of 2000 cataract surgeries under the campaign and offered all backings. Mr. A. K. Acharya (CFO, PVUN Ltd.) appealed the public came in the camp to follow doctor’s instructions and to disseminate the message of this free eye care service among more people. Mr. Sunil Kodape (Construction Manager, BHEL) said that blindness rate in Jharkhand is 2.13% as higher than India’s 1.99% and keeping view of poverty in the state, we welcome this campaign of eye check up & treatment absolutely free of cost. Mr. P. K. Vishwas (Head-HR, BHEL) was hopeful for benefit to local people through this eye care intervention. Mr. Nirbhay Singh (CO, Patratu) assured for all support to the campaign and said that the target of 2000 cataract surgeries seems less than the magnitude of the problem as most of the persons above 50 years of age are prone to cataract.

Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK) has focused upon the need of people’s awareness on eye health care and thanked to the officials from BHEL and Dr. Sanjay Singh (Director, Sai Nursing Home) for their support. Its noteworthy that LNJP eye hospital has set the targets of 2000 cataract surgeries and 100 eye screening camps across all 48 panchayats of Patratu within a year. In today’s camp, total 175 persons turned up for their eye check up, 45 have been identified with cataract and referred to the base hospital for surgery.

14 December 2020, Khunti: With support of Tata Trusts @tatatrusts and Titan @titanwatches @titaneyeplus NBJK, Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited and CInI have come forward to support migrant people in Murhu & Khunti blocks came back to their homes during lockdown caused by COVID-19 pandemic. These organizations have started a project Mission Gaurav and enlisted 10,007 persons after a survey, to be supported.

They started a help center as Apna Seva Kendra (ASK) with inauguration by Mr. Nilkanth Singh Munda (MLA from Khunti & Chairman of Lok Lekha Samiti, Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha) who emphasized over collective  effort that made women more empowered and works as a vital force behind proper realization of Govt. schemes.

Mr. Girija Satish (Executive Director, NBJK) said about 30 years long work experience of NBJK in Khunti when vegetable cultivation was not in practice by farmers here, now they do it in almost every village because of organization’s positive endeavor. Also he briefed about the collective attempt for market availability to local farmers.

11 November 2020, Silaunja (Bodhgaya), Gaya: With support of Finolex Industries-Pune, NBJK has distributed Covid relief materials among poor & needy persons at Lord Buddha Home for Children, an orphanage run by the organization.

There were 300 beneficiaries of this event, 242 came from Chhachh, Sialunja, Bataspur villages, 58 belong to LBHC family and 90% recipients were widows, PwDs, migrant labourers, orphan children etc. Each of them received dry food & hygiene kits consisting of 5 kg Flour, 5 kg Rice, 2 kg Pulse, 1 kg Sugar, 1 kg Suji, 1 lit Mustard Oil, 1 packet Tea leaf, 1 packet Biscuit, 1 packet Turmeric powder, 1 packet Chilli powder, 1 pc Sanitary pad, 4 pcs Mask, 10 pcs Hand Sanitizer, 1 pc Soap and 10 pcs of earthen lamp.

Bihar State Lok Samiti President Mr. Vijay Kumar Passes Away, Condolence Meeting Held

13 October 2020, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Hazaribag District Lok Samiti has organized a condolence meeting after getting the news on sad demise of Mr. Vijay Kumar (President, Bihar State Lok Samiti) and paid him rich tribute.

Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti) informed that in evening of 12 October at Gandhi Seva Ashrama, Jalalpur (Dist-Saran, Bihar), 84 years old Vijay Babu met a cardiac arrest and he couldn’t be saved. He said that late Vijay Babu was very closely associated with the leaders like Vinoba, JP, Acharya Ram Murti and contributed actively as the president of Lok Samiti’s Bihar Unit since last seven years. Mr. Girija Satish called him a grass root social worker with strong grip over people because of his image whose passing away is a huge loss to the organization.

Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Founder Member, Hazaribag District Lok Samiti) appreciated the Lok Samiti leader for his exemplary personality. Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) talked about late Vijay Babu’s simple life dedicated to the nation and described him as a source of inspiration. Symposium on 118th Birth Anniversary of JP

11 October 2020, Hazaribagh: The followers of Loknayak Jay Prakash Narayan have celebrated his 118^th birth anniversary at JP Memorial place near Gandhi Ashrama, Parnala (Kumhartoli) and paid him their rich tribute. They garlanded the photograph of JP and organized a meeting on this occasion.

Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti) headed the program and expressed deep concern over little or no knowledge upon great persons among new generation. He explained a short life history of JP and suggested for suitable modifications in school syllabus. Mr. Girija Satish said that political parties or governments support status quo but socio-political thinkers like Gandhi-Vinoba-JP bring changes. He appealed the people to get rid of social evils in the name of religion & tradition.

Mr. Swaroop Chand Jain described JP as a magnificent personality who led a life full of renunciation & austerity and he denied even PM’s post with courage. Mr. Satyendra Kumar was in favor of a people’s movement again against injustice & exploitation. Dr. Vishwanath Azad has remembered few memoirs of JP as the leader of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Vahini and said about the mass movement of 1974 in Bihar that made people aware in other parts of India too.

09 October 2020, Amritnagar (Hazaribagh): With support of Benevity and Give India, potato seeds & fertilizers have been distributed among migrant laborers by NBJK at its coordination office. This is for their sustainable livelihood and rehabilitation.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) handed over the support materials to the migrant laborers and said that we need to pay attention over agriculture with irrigation as maximum livelihood can be generated from agriculture sector in the villages. Today more than 100 migrant laborers or small farmers have received 36 kg potato seeds, 2.5 kg DAP and 500 grams potash for each.

The distribution team was comprised of Messrs Ranjan Kumar (Program Coordinator), Alok Toppo, Vinod Rana, Ashok Mishra, Parmeshwar Rana, Surendra Rana, Dilip Hazam, Subodh Marandi, Md. Azad, Shashika Kachchap, Rusila Kisku and Arun Kisku. Mr. Ranjan Kumar has informed that the campaign will cover more than 3000 migrant laborers with such support materials at Hazaribagh, Chauparan and Dumka in coming days.

Symposium on #MahatmaGandhi: A Great Human

02 October 2020, Amrit Nagar: A symposium upon “Mahatma Gandhi: A Great Human” held at NBJK Coordination Office and many social workers, journalists, village women have participated in the program presided by Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (Advocate & Ex-Agitator, JP Movement).

Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK & National Lok Samiti) has introduced the subject and said that GandhiJi used to treat small or big things as equally important and he opposed untouchability, superstition, liquor as well as made Naturopathy, Vegetarianism, Gender Equality, Respect to All Religions, Sarvodaya, Non-violence, Truth, Economic Doctrine of Trusteeship important for a new India. Gandhi didn’t resist English people rather he differed with their rule and added a new dimension to the freedom struggle of India, Mr. Girija Satish pointed out.

Mr. Bateshwar Mehta appealed to be aware with the time and to adopt life values of Mahatma Gandhi. Rural women like Mrs. Pramila Gupta, Mrs. Anju Devi, Mrs. Padma Devi and Mrs. Meena Devi have mentioned the effort by Gandhian organization NBJK to empower Women SHGs towards self-sustainability and institutional support for women suffering from domestic violence. Dr. Vishwanath Azad said that the transformation of Gandhiji to Mahatma was contributed a lot by his wife Kasturba Gandhi. Dr. Zafrullah Sadique viewed mental dissatisfaction as the biggest problem of this age and remembered frugality, truth & non-violence like qualities of Gandhiji.

Mr. Murari Singh has informed about Mahatma Gandhi’s influence as ban upon sacrificial system in Pabra village near Hazaribag while Mr. Umesh Pratap termed violence of thoughts as more dangerous and emphasized on truth with service. Mr. Gautam Sagar Rana has called to replace violent economics of this modern era and insisted to connect economic development with human development. Mr. Krishna Kumar Saha (Officer In-charge, Women Police Station, Hazaribag) mentioned that our public needs proper guidance to control their familial unrest and capable people should support reconciliation instead of legal battle. In his presidential address, Mr. Swarup Chand Jain treated liquor prohibition as a sensitive issue and demanded to the Government for a complete ban upon liquor in Jharkhand and in India.

Condolence Message on Demise of #SwamiAgnivesh

14 September 2020, Hazaribagh (Jharkhand): Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK & National Lok Samiti) has expressed deep sorrow over passing away of Swami Agnivesh, a well known social activist and a sannyasin of Arya Samaj order.

He said that Swami Agnivesh was associated with Lok Samiti right from the beginning and he has supported our demand of Right to Work in the year 1987. Besides this, very often he used to attend Inter Caste-Inter Religion Marriage conventions. Mr. Girija Satish described him as a progressive person who stood in favour of the deprived people always and opposed superstition vehemently. He remembered Swami Agnivesh in support of ordinary people at Ranchi during 2011 when the Government has started an anti-encroachment campaign and demolished their habitats ruthlessly.

His initiatives for restoration of human rights, release of bonded labours and a way out to naxal problem are unforgettable and we will miss such a different personality very much, Mr. Girija Satish pointed out.
