28 May 2020, Chauparan (Hazaribag): With support of GiveIndia and HSBC, NBJK has distributed ration & sanitation kits among the families of quarantined laborers staying at different quarantine centers made in Chauparan block.

The families of around 250 such laborers have received the kits of 10 kg Rice, 2 kg Pulse, 1 Soap and a Mask as each of them at such centers like Upgraded Primary School-Ahri Nawadih, KBS High School-Chauparan, Panchayat Bhawan-Chaithee, Buniyadi Madhya Vidyalaya-Thuthee, Samudayik Bhawan-Nagwan under Chordaha, Chauparan, Chaithee, Tajpur, Mangarh, Bahera, Pandewara, Singhrawan, Bachhai panchayats of the block.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has appealed the people living at quarantine centers to follow all safety rules in favor of their family members, village & society. He said that social distancing, mask wearing and 3-4 times soap hand-washing are the trusted measures to prevent COVID-19 and we all are supposed to practice these to control the pandemic.

A team of Mr. Birendra Sinha, Mrs. Maya Mishra, Mrs. Poonam Kumari, Mr. Narayan Rajak, Md. Sanaullah Ansari, Mr. Navratna Pandey, Mr. Brijnandan Sahoo, Mr. Santosh Prajapati and Mr. Narayan Prajapati distributed the kits among people.

26-27 May 2020, Dumka-Hazaribag: With support of Aditya Birla Capital, NBJK provided dry ration for 94 quarantined persons staying at Jama High School. Mr. Sadhucharan Devgam (BDO-Jama) has received Rice (3 quintals), Lentil Pulse (1 quintal), Soybean (20 kg) and Salt (10 kg).

Under the program of Community Based Inclusive Development for PwDs with support of CBM India, 5 mask production units have made 5000 masks and next lot is in process. 2 units are in Kathikund block and 3 in Jama, Jarmundi and Dumka Sadar block respectively. These are run by Differently Abled People’s Organizations with PwDs members. At Nawada village of Kathikund block in Dumka district, children were fed and public demonstration of preventive measures took place with support of GOJ.

In Hazaribag Sadar Block, 20 women in NBJK facilitated SHGs have made 10,000 reusable masks and liked by people.

22-24 May 2020, Dumka, Deoghar, Barhi, Khunt: A campaign for hand wash with soap and mask distribution took place among around 200 people in 8 villages of Jama block of Dumka district under NBJK run program of Community Based Inclusive Development for PwDs with support of CBM India-Bangaluru.

In Ramaldih, Sahari, Gadi and Barsatia villages of Deoghar Sadar block, with support of SBI Foundation-Mumbai, Team NBJK of the program SBI Gram Seva has distributed Ration kits among 187 households. Keeping view of the problem being faced by the marginalized people, SBI Administrative Office-Deoghar has supported the relief campaign. Each family head got Rice (7 kg) & Pulse (1 kg) from the hands of Mr. A. K. Tiwari (Officer, State Bank of India).

In Khunti, NBJK got a Letter of Appreciation from local MLA Mr. Nilkanth Singh Munda due to its constant active response to COVID-19 in the district. On behalf of the organization, Mr. Mohit Purty (Branch Manager, NBJK-Khunti) has received the citation and thanked the Honorable MLA. Its noteworthy that right from this Corona crisis, NBJK intervened in the area through running community kitchens, ration distribution, marketing of farm products, awareness campaign and convergence of GO-NGOs efforts with many more.

Likewise in Barhi (Hazaribag), with support of Mr. Jayant Sinha (Hon. MP, Hazaribag), NBJK has set up 4 refreshment stalls at Barhi Chowk where all major buses on the Ranchi-Patna, Ranchi-Gaya, Dhanbad-Patna and Dhanbad-Gaya routes pass through. These stalls are serving Sattu sharbat & drinking water to around 1000 migrant workers daily coming back to their homes from metro cities or other states.

23 May 2020, Hazaribag: Under the campaign to support needy people in Corona caused hard time, NBJK has provided ration & sanitation kit to 172 families at Hazaribag with support of Azim Premji Foundation-Bangaluru.

There were 73, 70 and 29 family head men/women at three distribution points namely Devangana Chowk, Shuzait Chowk & South Gandhi Nagar-Matwari and each of them received flour (10 kg), pulse (1.5 kg), mustard oil (1 litre), potato (5 kg), sugar (1 kg), gram (1 kg), soap (2 pcs) & mask (2 pcs). Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) and Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK) have distributed these essential items among the beneficiary families belong to Ghasi Mohalla, Gosain Tola and other localities of Hazaribag.

Mr. Girija Satish said that with support of partner organizations, NBJK is committed to serve weaker section of the society. Our relief campaign is running across 7 districts of Jharkhand and reached to 10 thousand plus people in terms of medical utilities/infrastructure support to administration and availability of ration-sanitation kit, community kitchen, money transfer in bank account & awareness campaign for the people, he briefed.

20-21 May 2020, Hazaribag: With support of Plan India & Tata Trusts, NBJK has provided 320 pcs PPE kits to the office of Medical Superintendent-HMCH, 1800 pcs three-layered masks to Dr. Sanjay Jayaswal (Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag) and 700 pcs of the same masks to Ms Shipra Sinha (District Social Welfare Officer, Hazaribag).

Also 1000 pcs of 3-layered mask and 80 pcs of PPE kit made available to the CHC of Churchu block while 500 pcs of 3-layered masks have been provided to the CDPO office, Churchu.

Messrs Ranjan Kumar, Alok Toppo, Bhaia Anshuman & others from Child Centered Community Development Program, Churchu have played important role in this medical items’ distribution affair.

19 May 2020, Hazaribag: With support of Goonj-Jharkhand, NBJK provided dry food items to 65 rozedar families at Azad Nagar area of Hazaribag town. Each family has received flour (10 kg), mustard oil (1 litre), gram pulse (1.5 kg), gram (1 kg), potato (5 kg), onion (1 kg), salt (1 kg), sugar (1 kg), soap (2 pcs), mask (2 pcs).

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) offered best wishes of Ramzan to the beneficiaries and said that keeping view of daily life problem during lockdown; this is a small support to our fellow citizens. These food items have been distributed at the place of Hazi Md. Islam, a senior citizen of the area and his family members have supported the logistics.

Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager, NBJK) and a team comprised of Messrs Shankar Rana, Rajkumar, Barun Yadav, Kundan, Shatrughn Thakur, Govind and Md. Afzal have arranged the event.

13-16 May 2020, Jharkhand-Bihar: During this crucial Lockdown, NBJK has transferred money to bank accounts of 147 needy families of Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Koderma, Giridih, Ramgadh and Dumka districts. Each one of them has received Rs. 5000 through NEFT in the very first round of this transparent & full proof relief campaign with support of GiveIndia.

With support of CInI-Tata Trusts at Murhu (Khunti), NBJK promoted Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited has supplied 81.5 MT watermelons to Deoghar, Chaibasa, and Jamshedpur along with different markets of Bihar. These watermelons are quite tasty, nutritious and with a different flavor also, the growers claim.

Under the program of Capacitating Social Activists to Reduce Poverty and to Ensure Food Security with support of BFW-Germany, a supported VO Jan Sahyog Kendra-Hazaribag has facilitated tribal farmers of Gomia (Bokaro) to grow watermelons, green vegetables and other crops for their own nutritious intake and cash income through local marketing of these farm products. Another network partner VO Saghan Sewayatan Kendra-Dobhi (Gaya) offers sattu, sharbat, lemon water & biscuits to the migrant laborers coming back to their home from big cities under heavy distress created due to lockdown by COVID-19.

With the program of Community Based Inclusive Development for PwDs by support of CBM India, NBJK workers visit in villages of Dumka district to make people aware about preventive measures like soap handwashing, social distancing and meeting held with Kisan Club members for need assessment to uplift their agriculture.

These small initiatives are like Many a Little makes a Mickle certainly.

10 May 2020, Khunti: Under joint auspices of Khunti Chamber of Commerce & Industries, SEWA Welfare Society and NBJK, 250 needy families have received ration at Saake, Kochang and Baruhatu villages in Arki block of Khunti district.

These families belong to around 20 remote villages including Totkora, Kudada, Ladli, Eechahatu etc. also which are located in dense forest amid hilly terrain and affected by naxal as well as Pathalgadi activities badly. In presence of the Gram Pradhan, all the people got ration at near 12 noon and before that all have been served Khichdi also as their assimilation started at about 6 AM on the day.

After making information to the district control room, a joint team of KCCI, SWS & NBJK including Mr. Vinod Jaiswal, Ms Jyoti Singh and Mr. Mohit Purty has reached there and distributed dry ration with masks among villagers. Mr. Neelkanth Singh Munda (MLA, Khunti) has provided masks to SWS for the purpose.

Also the team members have disseminated information about protective procedures for COVID-19 and an awareness chariot by NBJK was on move in the area. The villagers have shown their commitment for No Entry Corona collectively.

06 May 2020, Hazaribag: At Soochna Bhawan, Ms Vijaya Jadhav (Deputy Development Commissioner-Hazaribag) has called a workshop upon joint work policy of the district administration & NGOs during this crucial period of COVID-19 pandemic. As per the guidelines from the MHA & Niti Ayog, the DDC has stressed upon mutual modus operandi, work plans and encouraged various NGOs, CBOs, religious organizations and the bodies working towards economic empowerment of women/farmers to contact the people and to work for them.

The DDCs is the nodal officers and SUPPORT-Hazaribag has been identified as the Mother NGO for this purpose.

On this occasion, the DDC has issued guidelines to the representatives of NGOs about working with the people of COVID-19 affected blocks and chalked out strategy upon various works with the farmers and to increase man-days under MGNREGA. The works by district administration & the organizations include as to identify persons from deprived families & to link them with services & schemes, to make people aware and to educate them about the pandemic, dissemination of needful information & message through social media, to encourage people to follow rules & regulations of lockdown, to indentify people coming from outside-to inform the authority-to manage quarantine center for them, to arrange masks-gloves-head gears, to inform deprived people about the Govt. run Dal Bhat Kendra-Didi Kitchen- meal centers at PSs, distribution of food packets, psychiatric counseling, to operate helpline, to work in hotspot areas, to support Govt. run PDS-Ujjwala yojna-PM Kisan Samman yojna, JanDhan yojna-registration of migrant & local laborers for home return & their registration-providing work under MGNREGA, to make people aware about various schemes, to ensure pre-natal check up for pregnant women, safeguarding children, nutritious food distribution at Anganbadi centers etc. To blame COVID-19 suffering or infected people is a big problem, so the NGOs are supposed to support influential people of society to check the prejudice and to be in touch with the communities to eradicate doubts/mistrust among people. All the issues were discussed broadly in the meeting and the NGOs have been asked to render their support in coordination with the district administration.

As the Honourable Chief Minister launched three new schemes as Nilambar-Pitambar Jal Samriddhi Yojana, Birsa Harit Gram Yojana & Poto Ho Khel Vikas Yojna, the NGOs working in rural areas must support proper execution of these schemes, the DDC said.

The meeting was participated by Mrs. Anuja Rana (DPO, MGNREGA), Mr. Bhawani Shankar Gupta (Secretary, SUPPORT-the mother NGO), Mr. Gaurav Jaiswal (DPO-JSLPS) and chief functionaries of 43 NGOs of the district including Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) who supported the consensus.

06 May 2020, Hazaribag: Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) handed over 3-layered mask (1200 pcs), N 95 mask (100 pcs), hand sanitizer 500 ml (300 vials), gloves (1200 pcs), PPE Kit (400 pcs) and infrared thermometer (08 pcs) to Dr. Krishna Kumar (Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag).

Likewise to Dr. K. K. Lal (Superintend, Hazaribag Medical College), he contributed hand sanitizer 500 ml (200 vials), N 95 mask (100 pcs) and dental kit (500 sets) along with 3-layered mask (1200 pcs), hand sanitizer 500 ml (300 vials), gloves (1200 pcs to Mrs. Shipra Sinha (District Social Welfare Officer, Hazaribag).

These Govt. officials have appreciated the move as their departments are in dire need of such support items to deal with influx of migrant laborers/students from outside the state daily. Mr. Girija Satish said that these medical utilities are worth Rs. Seven lakhs approximately and will be helpful for doctors, medical staffs and frontline Corona warriors like Sahiya/ASHA, Anganwadi workers etc.

The support has been mobilized under Child Centered Community Development Program run by NBJK with support of Plan India. Mr. Ranjan Kumar (Program Manager, CCCD) and team have managed the affair.
