Free Eye Screening Camp by Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar

01 September 2022, Deoghar: NBJK run Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar has organized a free eye screening camp at Castairs Town (Bawan Bigha, Deoghar).

Dr. Yugal Kishor Choudhary, Civil Surgeon-Deoghar has inaugurated the camp. The office bearers of a citizens’ forum “Castairs Town Bawan Bigha Pariwar” including local body & PRIs representatives have graced the event with their presence.

This eye screening camp has provided checkup facility to 158 persons, detected 18 patients with Cataract as well as 45 with Refractive Error and 01 with Pterigium.

As per Ophthalmologist’s advice, 25 patients have received medicines, 37 will get glasses while 32 have been referred to the base hospital for better treatment. Also surgery for all persons suffering from cataract will be done by VRBEH.

LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera Introduces ICL Surgery

01 September 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital has introduced Implantable Collamer Lens or ICL surgery and transplanted such lens in the eyes of a patient namely Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav from Babhnadih (Barhi, Hazaribagh) successfully on 31st August 2022. Manoj, the young man is a heavy machine operator by profession and lives at Biharsharif (Nalanda, Bihar).

Dr. Alok Kumar (Senior Ophthalmologist, LNJPEH) did this great job as very first time for the hospital and earned appreciation. He said that ICL provides relief from thick glasses if one is of 18 plus age with stable vision & normal health report. It goes with both of the eyes through operations by one day gap and doesn’t affect daily routine, he explained.

Earlier the patient used to wear bulky specs with -14.00 (L) & -16.00 (R) and was unable see clearly. During post surgery checkup, his vision was found far better without glasses. Now he may need simple glasses.

Mr. Santosh Puri (Manager, LNJPEH) adds that ICL is an excellent choice for patients with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. It’s made of Collagen that is 100% biocompatible, absorbs harmful UV rays and is designed to function in accordance with our body, he informed.

Vimla Ramakrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital Organizes Screening Camps in Villages

29 August 2022, Deoghar-Giridih: NBJK run Vimla Ramakrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar is organizing Eye Screening Camps in Villages of Giridih and Deoghar districts.

During the period of 20-29 August 2022, it arranged 11 such camps at Naitand, Thariyara, Deothar, Bhayadih, Bhawanpur, Chuliha, Bariyarpur, Simaria, Kendua, Suardehi and Bhanudih villages of Jamua, Giridih Sadar and Mohanpur blocks of both the districts.

Through these screening camps, total 283 eye patients have availed checkup facility and 97 were found with Refractive Error while Cataract was detected with 115 among them. 30 patients had other eye problems and 8 have been referred to base hospital.

All the services are free of cost under the Mission of Avoidable Blindness Free Jharkhand.

Inter House Quiz Contest at Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School

27 August 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): An Inter House Quiz Contest was held at NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh). Ms Rina Pandey (Principal) has inaugurated the event organized among school’s four Houses named after Tagore, Gandhi, Subhash and JP.

In this contest, Gandhi House emerged as the overall winner with 90 marks and Subhash House has been declared as the runner-up with 54 marks while Tagore House & JP House achieved third and fourth positions consequently.

Mr. Indrajit Kumar Sharma and Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Lal, the school teachers have contributed as quiz masters while some senior teachers like Mr. Ajit Pandey, Mr. Shankar Singh, Mr. Bhola Sinha, Mr. Vyas Pandey and Mrs. Purnima Kumari were judges.

The Principal has distributed prizes among the winners as well as all participants and appreciated their sportsmanship spirit. She said that quiz contests update us with current affairs and expands our mental faculty.

NBJK run Eye Hospitals’ Caring Initiative

27 August 2022, Hazaribagh-Deoghar: NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) and Vimla Ramkrishna Eye Hospital, Deoghar are making eye care facility available for uncared & vulnerable people.

LNJPEH, Bahera has ensured eye screening camp with medicines distribution for truck-bus drivers & travelers on 24th of every month at Chordaha check-post near Jharkhand-Bihar border keeping view of accident prone Danua valley beyond this place.

Similarly VREH, Deoghar will organize an eye screening camp on 12th September for old aged people associated with Pensioner Kalyan Samaj of the city.

Eye Health Awareness Training for ASHAs

26 August 2022, Churchu (Hazaribagh): Under joint auspices of NBJK, Sightsavers and CHC-Churchu, 24 Sahiya Didis (ASHAs) have attended orientation training upon Eye Health awareness at CHC, Churchu.

The training was focused upon door to door screening, Cataract detection & referral.

Mr. Amarkant (BPM, CHC-Churcchu), Mr. Kirti Rawat (Sightsavers) and Mr. Akash Kumar (Ophthalmic Assistant, LNJPEH-NBJK) have contributed as resource persons.

SPBP School Introduces Gatka Game for Students

26 August 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): NBJK run & CBSE affiliated Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School at Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) has introduced Gatka game for students and called trainers to orient them.

Mr. Prince Kumar Mishra (General Secretary, Jharkhand Gatka Association), Mr. Amit Kumar and Mr. Anshu Kumar from Koderma have arrived at the school on 23rd August and provided training for some interested students. They performed well during the training session.

It’s significant that Gatka, a traditional game from Punjab is a form of martial art and recommended by CBSE. Also it was included in National Youth Games 2021 and earned a lot of appreciation.

National Commission for Women to Regulate Family Counselling Centres

25 August 2022, Hazaribagh: Under auspices of National Commission for Women, a Consultation held with the NGOs running Family Counselling Centres and NBJK was represented by Dr. Sanjay Kumar (Counsellor, FCC with NBJK).

On 22nd August, Ms. Rekha Sharma (Hon. Chairperson, NCW) inaugurated the program and said that we need some changes to improve efficiency of FCCs and now these will work under guidance of NCW. The Centres will report to the Commission every month and these are supposed to deal with the cases related to sexual harassment of women on priority basis.

It’s noteworthy that earlier FCCs were working under the aegis of Central as well as State Social Welfare Boards.

Dr. Shekhar Sheshadri (Former Director, NIMHANS-Bangalore) suggested for developing a Standard Operating Procedure for Counsellors keeping view of effective resolution of cases.

Also senior officials of NCW like Ms. Meeta Rajivlochan (Member Secretary), Mr. A. Asholi Chalai (Joint Secretary), Dr. Shah Alam (Special Rapporteur) and many prominent women social workers have contributed to the event.

During open session, Dr. Sanjay Kumar (NBJK) demanded for liquor prohibition as it’s a major factor behind anti-women crimes and said about need of pre-marriage counselling to avoid marital disputes.

Quiz Competition at Remedial Coaching Centers

24 August 2022, Hazaribagh: Under UTI Mutual Fund supported and NBJK run program of Remedial Coaching Centers, Quiz Competition is going on for the students.

This started from 18th August and will take nearly a week to cover all 30 RCCs in villages across Hazaribagh Sadar, Churchu and Daroo blocks of Hazaribagh district. So far 7 RCCs at Rola, Meru, Ango, Bhandardih, Churchu I & II and Sakhiya villages have organized quiz competitions for their students.

The event is being organized for all three classes i.e. VIII, IX & X. The winners get standard books of English Grammar, Translation & English-Hindi Dictionary as prizes.

It’s remarkable that around 1000 students with more than 90% girl children are enrolled at these RCCs and in class X board exam, 76% students passed with first division while overall result was 99%.

Guest Lecture at Mission Rozgar Training Center

22 August 2022, Giridih: Under NBJK run Young India project with support of UTI Mutual Fund, Mission Rozgar Training Center, Giridih has conducted a Guest Lecture for its trainees. Mr. Amit Swarnkar, an assistant teacher with Shri Guru Nanak School-Giridih and district president of Taekwando Federation was the guest who conversed with MRTC trainees.

Mr. Swarnkar has mixed with the audience easily and motivated them to conceive optimism. He shared own experiences of struggle, achievement and satisfaction. He mentioned about own assessment, inner urge to move forward as well as stressed upon physical fitness. Also he provided tips over self-defense to girls. Many youths questioned about doubts related to life skills and the guest has tried to convince his listeners.

There were total 58 trainees participated in this talk in presence of Ms. Rumana Azmat (Center Coordinator) & faculty members. All have thanked Mr. Amit Swarnkar for his fine delivery.
