05 June 2026, Jamtara: Under the SBI Gram Seva Project supported by SBI Foundation, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) is driving environmental conservation, sanitation, and water management initiatives in Bamnadiha Panchayat of Fatehpur Block, Jamtara district. The project covers five villages—Bamandiha, Turka, Mahishakhura, Dudhani, and Karjori.
Through sustained community engagement, awareness about cleanliness, waste management, water conservation, and environmental protection has increased significantly among villagers. Community members are actively participating in efforts to maintain cleaner and healthier surroundings.
NBJK has introduced regular door-to-door waste collection through a waste collection van and installed dustbins in all five villages, helping strengthen local sanitation systems and reduce open dumping of waste.
To promote water conservation, the organization has also supported the restoration and rejuvenation of seven ponds across the Panchayat. These efforts have improved rainwater harvesting capacity, strengthened local water resources, and contributed to environmental sustainability.
On World Environment Day, villagers were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices, conserve water, and maintain cleanliness in their communities.
In his message, Mr. Swapan Dhar, CEO, SBI Foundation, said, “Environmental conservation and sustainable water management are key priorities of the SBI Gram Seva Project. Through initiatives such as waste management, rejuvenation of water bodies, and solar-powered electrification, we are strengthening rural resilience and improving the quality of life in communities.”
The collaborative efforts of NBJK and SBI Foundation demonstrate how community participation and sustainable interventions can create lasting positive change in rural areas and contribute to a greener future.
