28 March 2019, Amrit Nagar : A Legal Awareness Camp was organized under joint auspices of District Legal Services Authority, Hazaribag and NBJK under Capacity Building Program for Social Workers with support of Bread for the World, Germany. On this occasion, DLSA team planned a workshop on Foster Care & Sponsorship to make people aware of child rights. Mr. Arun Prabhat Sinha (Retd. CJM) was the chief guest of this function who called the law framed in the year 2018 as a need of our time.
Mr. Bhaiya Mukesh (DLSA team leader) has introduced the theme of foster Care & Sponsorship and said that our judiciary is responsible for realization of the law and ensures people’s participation. The very caring and safety of orphan children is a sensitive matter that needs a legal purview to avoid irregularities as no one can possess any orphan child randomly rather he/she has to follow required process and to inform local police first of all, he opined. Mr. Saurabh Anshu (DLSA member) said that the process of child adoption is now on-line, transparent and the adopted child gets legal right from the family she/he goes. Mr. Anuj Kumar explained about the age group of children as 0-6 years for foster care and 6-21 years for sponsorship purpose, Rs. 2000 monthly as caring stipend for new parents and role of district Child Welfare Committee to protect child rights. Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Srijan Foundation, Hazaribag) supported for a family set up instead of an orphanage for stray children and cautioned that any parent with already three children can’t be eligible for foster care. Md. Moazzam (DLSA team leader) appealed the parents to avoid gender dicrimination among children. Mrs. Anamika Kumari was in favour of protection for each child and Mrs. Renu Kumari focused upon people’s introduction with legal provisions towards child rights.
Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) welcomed the chief guest with DLSA team and said that we could link more than 1500 children with sponsorship program under Child Centered Community Development in Churchu block and associated with more children through programs like Family Counselling Center and Childline 1098.
The workshop was attended by about 50 women from SHGs at nearby villages like Oriya, Amrit Nagar, Birbir, Sakhiya, Baihari, Rola etc. and Mrs. Saraswati Devi (vill-Oriya) has elaborated about her family problems before DLSA members. Mr. Rajeev Singh (Porgram Manager, NBJK) delivered vote of thanks at last. Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, Family Counselling Center), Mr. Shankar Rana (Lok Samiti), Mr. Sudhir Upadhyay, Mr. Prayag Prajapati and Mr. Mahesh Kumar (all Micro-credit dept.) have played important role to organize the camp.
