31 May 2026, Hazaribagh: A nine-day intensive residential sewing training programme concluded successfully at the Coordination Office of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), Amrit Nagar. A total of ten women trainees, including four from Lohardaga, two from Gumla, three from Hazaribagh, and one from Giridih district, completed the training.

The programme was organized under the Usha Silai School initiative being implemented by NBJK with the support of Usha International Ltd. The training was conducted under the Adopt Category, and the entire cost of the training, accommodation, learning materials, and sewing machines was sponsored by J Charitable Trust, Tamil Nadu.

During the intensive training, participants received practical knowledge on sewing machine installation, machine parts and accessories, basic maintenance and repair, garment designing, pattern making, cutting, and stitching techniques. The trainees were also provided extensive hands-on practice to strengthen their technical and entrepreneurial skills.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Nusrat Parveen, Master Trainer of Usha International Ltd., Mr. Gopal Kumar Mishra, Service Engineer, and Mr. Felix Tirkey, State Programme Officer, whose contributions played a vital role in the successful completion of the programme.

At the valedictory session, each participant was awarded a certificate and provided with a new sewing machine, guidebook, syllabus, toolbox, and Usha Silai School signboard to support them in establishing and running their own training centres.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Shailesh Kumar, Programme Coordinator of NBJK, congratulated the trainees and encouraged them to utilize their newly acquired skills for self-employment and community development. He highlighted that the Usha Silai School Programme has emerged as a significant platform for women’s empowerment across the country, with more than 33,000 Usha Silai Schools operating in over 16,000 villages, creating livelihood opportunities and promoting economic independence among women.

The programme reflects the collective commitment of NBJK, Usha International Ltd., and J Charitable Trust towards strengthening women’s livelihoods and fostering inclusive rural development.
