21 March, Ranchi: In a meeting with PReJHA, NBJK and its network partner organizations have announced their collaboration with PanIIT Reach For Jharkhand Foundation (PReJHA) to provide skill development training and placement for youths from deprived communities in Jharkhand.

PReJHA is an organ of Pan IIT Alumni Reach For India Foundation, a non-profit joint venture with the state for vocational education exclusively for the underprivileged. It was started in 1969 by alumni of IITs and has been providing quality skill development training to youths and ensuring their placement. In Jharkhand, PReJHA is associated with the Department of Welfare, Government of Jharkhand and offers skill development and livelihood enhancement with a special focus on marginalized communities such as Scheduled Tribes (ST), Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), Scheduled Caste (SC), and other minorities.

PReJHA runs Kalyan Gurukuls, which offer two months of free residential training to youths of the 18-32 age group in 14 sub-trades under Manufacturing, Construction, and Sewing Machine Operator Trades categorized for males and females with academic qualifications from 5th-12th class. After the training, they get guaranteed jobs in the range of Rs. 10,000-15,500 with social security like EPF and ESI.

Mr. Satish Girija, the secretary of NBJK, welcomed the proposal from PReJHA for mutual cooperation during the meeting, which was attended by the Chief Functionaries of 15 VOs from Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Chatra, Palamu, Ramgarh, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Ranchi districts. It was unanimously decided that the VOs would identify and link youths with the Kalyan Gurukul scheme in their work areas.

This collaboration between VOs and PReJHA is a step towards providing opportunities for skill development and livelihood enhancement for the deprived youths of Jharkhand, which would help in their socio-economic upliftment.
