06 December 2021, Chakla (Ranchi): Under Usha Silai School program with support of Usha International Ltd., NBJK has organized a residential training from 3rd December on Sewing Machine Servicing & Tailoring with Life Skills for 20 tribal women of Simdega district in Jharkhand. These women have come from different villages of Bolba, Simdega Sadar, Thethaitangar, Kersai, and Kolebira blocks to attend the training which will end on 11th December.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Felix Tirkey (Program Officer, UIL) in presence of Mrs. Pammi Devi, Mrs. Anita Soreng (both Trainers, UIL), Mr. Kamaljit Sharma (Service Engineer, UIL) and Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Program Coordinator, NBJK). Mr. Tirkey has focused upon need of financial self-reliance for empowerment and about support from NBJK-UIL to tribal women.

First two days of the training have been devoted to know about sewing machine, its fittings, functioning, fixing-unfixing, defects & keys etc. Mr. Kamaljit Sharma was the resource person for this part of training while Mrs. Pammi Devi and Mrs. Anita Soreng facilitate practical classes of dress making. Also the trainees will attend special sessions upon Personality development, customer handling skills, better services and related topics.

After completion of the training, each trained tribal woman will get a set of new sewing machine, signage board, and guide book with a certificate from Usha International Limited. They will start their Usha Silai School for skill development of local woman/girl aspirants along with a tailoring shop for customers especially ladies & children in need of better service.
