28 May 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): A mental health camp was organized by NBJK at it’s co-ordination office premises with help of Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry & Allied Sciences, Kanke (Ranchi) under Bread for the World, Germany funded programme of Support to Marginalized Mentally Ill People.
Total 916 people with mental illness & epilepsy have come here from different blocks of Hazaribag, Chatra, Ramgarh, Koderma, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih districts and got treatment with medicines by a team of doctors. There were 42 new and 874 old patients who availed the services of this Community Out Reach Programme by RINPAS, Ranchi. Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (Staff member, camp organizing team) has informed that many patients who came here for treatment are suffering from various mental diseases like Amnesia, Anger, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, Borderline Personality disorder, Dementia, Mood disorders etc. and get medicines to control their ailments.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar, an epileptic youngman from Jhumri Tilaiya (Koderma) visited the camp for treatment with his mother Mrs. Seema Devi. Likewise Md. Aarsee belongs to Dr. Zakir Hussain Road, Hazaribag and came with his family members for treatment of Insomnia with depression. The family members of these patients like many others have left traditional healers and decided for proper treatment by the doctors. The RINPAS team was comprised by Dr. Siddhartha, Dr. Amit, Dr. Ravindra Oraon, Dr. S. K. Hansda and some staffs for medicines distribution.
At NBJK Mr. Alok Toppo, Mr. Sujit Mishra, Mr. Poorn Prakash Rana, Mrs. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Pratima Devi, Ms Shahjehan, Mrs. Mery Hansda, Mr. Mahadev, Mr. Narsingh Paswan, Mr. Bhuneshwar Mahto and Mr. Kamal Kant Pandey have played important role in organizing the mental health camp. Next camp will be held on 25th June 2019 at the same venue.
