25 May, Hazaribag: Two days training upon Legislations and Welfare Schemes for People with Disabilities (PwDs) was held for the program team under Rights to PwDs program with support of AVI-BLF, UK being implemented in Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Nawada, Gaya districts of Jharkhand and Bihar.
Mrs. Sujata Prasad (Program Manager) has initiated the training and said that despite various laws and welfare schemes in interest of PwDs, people find it difficult to access due to lack of proper information. She instructed all trainee staffs to facilitate PwDs and to make them aware of such developments as they are rightful to get concerned benefits. The program manager asked for knowledge and information dissemination among these less privileged people & their care givers live in remote villages.
The training was started with causes, types, preventive measures for disability and covered PwDs Act 1995, National Trust Act, Rehabilitation Council of India, Right to Education/Information, National Policy of PwDs, Provision for Aids & Appliances, Schemes of Welfare Department, District Level Resources, Formation of Disabled People Organizations (DPOs) etc.
There were 55 staffs including District Program Coordinators like Mr. Vinod Rana (Koderma), Mr. Annu Kumar (Giridih), Mr. Shankar Prasad Mehta (Gaya), Mr. Shambhu Gupta (Nawada), Block Coordinators and all Field Workers those participated in this residential training.
