3 days training for Master Trainers under Usha Silai School program was held at NBJK coordination office, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag) from 25-27 February. These trainees will be Master Trainers for block level Satellite Silai Schools going to be opened shortly. Mrs. Radha Pandey (Tailoring Teacher) has upgraded their skill during a workshop for cutting and sewing of cushion-mobile-pillow covers, bag, nighty, half pant, baba suit, skirt and other dress items. All 12 trainees are already working under the program and conducting Usha Silai Schools in their villages successfully. They belong to Simdega, Hazaribag, Pakur, Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Giridih, Chatra and Jamtara districts of Jharkhand. Mr. Ritesh Lohani (Project Coordinator, Usha Social Services) has confirmed about reaching the target set by Usha Social Services to open 1100 Satellite Silai Schools in Bihar and 117 such schools in Jharkhand where NBJK plays a significant role to run the schools. It’s noteworthy that with support of Usha Social Services (Delhi), NBJK has associated 200 women in 20 districts of Bihar and 175 women in 17 districts of Jharkhand with livelihood activity through Usha Silai Schools. Most of the women are widows or separated, physically challenged or poverty stricken and having responsibility to look after their children. They got training for designing, cutting, stitching of clothes, sewing machine servicing and were provided sewing machines also for each to run Usha Silai Schools at their places. This enabled them to work as paid service providers where women or girls get tailored garments and tailoring training also.
