Training for Office-bearers of #DSHGs @ActionVillageIn

26-27 October, Hazaribag: An orientation training was organized for the office-bearers of Disable Self-Help Groups and concerned volunteers/project staffs under Disability Rights program with support of AVI-BLF, UK. Mrs. Sujata Prasad (Program Manager) has initiated the occasion and called DSHGs as a tool helpful to self-reliance of PwDs. A strong SHG by challenged people can be a platform for them to dilute their complexities differently, she assured the trainees.

As the resource person, Mr. Sudhir Upadhyay (Dist. Manager, SHGs) has introduced the theme of sustainability within SHGs and discussed about membership, meeting minutes, leaders & their roles, saving, internal lending, bye-laws etc. Also he talked about illiteracy, minimum accounting, fund management and collective decision for groups, where they may face problem to run smoothly. On second day, Mr. Ashutosh Mishra (State Coordinator, SHGs) and Mr. Vikas Mishra (Loan Officer, SHGs) have demonstrated over documentation of group activities through Passbook, Saving & Loan Register, Interest Calculation & Recording, Bank Linkage etc. They insisted for commitment by group members towards longevity of any SHG being operational under the program of Disability Rights.

There were 39 participants from Giridih and Hazaribag districts in the training. Mr. Annu Kumar, Mr. Om Prakash Gupta, Mr. Sujit Mishra, Mr. Santosh Gautam and Mr. Shailendra Sharma have supported for preparation. Remaining office-bearers of DSHGs from Gaya, Nawada and Koderma districts will get the orientation in November 2016.
