Training for DPO Leaders and Volunteers @ActionVillageIn

13-14 June, Hazaribag: Training started for office bearers of Disable People’s Organizations facilitated under Disability Rights program in Jharkhand & Bihar with support of AVI & BLF, UK. First two days were allocated for 36 participants belong to DPOs from Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih districts (Jharkhand) and on 24-25 June, 24 office bearers of DPOs from Gaya, Nawada districts turned up for the training.

All those were provided important inputs over establishing any such organization. Mr. Shankar Rana (resource person) has shared step wise effort to make any sustainable DPO through proper documentation of its objectives, bye-laws, memorandum, rules & regulations, on line registration etc. Also Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has attended the training and addressed to participants. He said that making organization is not so tough but to run it, to generate resource for the purpose is not an easy task. He suggested knowing the process for fund raising.

As an initiative to strengthening community’s stake on Disability Rights, 100 selected village volunteers from DSHGs/DPOs have been called for training about their rights & entitlements. They have been provided information about 20 government schemes related to medical support, education, mobility, livelihood and rehabilitation for PwDs. This commenced with trainees from Gaya and Nawada on 15-16 June and concluded on 29-30 June with volunteers from Hazaribag, Koderma and Giridih districts.
