02 October 2020, Amrit Nagar: A symposium upon “Mahatma Gandhi: A Great Human” held at NBJK Coordination Office and many social workers, journalists, village women have participated in the program presided by Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (Advocate & Ex-Agitator, JP Movement).
Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK & National Lok Samiti) has introduced the subject and said that GandhiJi used to treat small or big things as equally important and he opposed untouchability, superstition, liquor as well as made Naturopathy, Vegetarianism, Gender Equality, Respect to All Religions, Sarvodaya, Non-violence, Truth, Economic Doctrine of Trusteeship important for a new India. Gandhi didn’t resist English people rather he differed with their rule and added a new dimension to the freedom struggle of India, Mr. Girija Satish pointed out.
Mr. Bateshwar Mehta appealed to be aware with the time and to adopt life values of Mahatma Gandhi. Rural women like Mrs. Pramila Gupta, Mrs. Anju Devi, Mrs. Padma Devi and Mrs. Meena Devi have mentioned the effort by Gandhian organization NBJK to empower Women SHGs towards self-sustainability and institutional support for women suffering from domestic violence. Dr. Vishwanath Azad said that the transformation of Gandhiji to Mahatma was contributed a lot by his wife Kasturba Gandhi. Dr. Zafrullah Sadique viewed mental dissatisfaction as the biggest problem of this age and remembered frugality, truth & non-violence like qualities of Gandhiji.
Mr. Murari Singh has informed about Mahatma Gandhi’s influence as ban upon sacrificial system in Pabra village near Hazaribag while Mr. Umesh Pratap termed violence of thoughts as more dangerous and emphasized on truth with service. Mr. Gautam Sagar Rana has called to replace violent economics of this modern era and insisted to connect economic development with human development. Mr. Krishna Kumar Saha (Officer In-charge, Women Police Station, Hazaribag) mentioned that our public needs proper guidance to control their familial unrest and capable people should support reconciliation instead of legal battle. In his presidential address, Mr. Swarup Chand Jain treated liquor prohibition as a sensitive issue and demanded to the Government for a complete ban upon liquor in Jharkhand and in India.
Also Messrs Prabhu Nath Sharma, Arjun Yadav, Narendra Mahto, Filman Bakhla, Anand Abhinav, Gandharv Gaurav, Nandlal Saw, Rajesh Kumar, Ajay Mishra, Suresh Thakur were present in the event. Before this, Mr. Girija Satish & others have garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and late Lal Bahadur Shastri (Ex-PM of India) at Kumhartoli, Indrapuri Chowk and Jheel areas of Hazaribagh town.
