Strengthening of CHC with #VisionCenter Now

22 July 2021, Barkagaon (Hazaribag): As an activity of Netra Vasant-Rural Eye Health (REH) program under joint auspices of Sightsavers India @SightsaversIndia @SightsaversIn, NBJK managed LNJP Eye Hospital-Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribag) and Govt. run Hazaribag Sadar Hospital, opening of a Vision Center at Community Health Center-Barkagaon was ensured today.

Mr. Nandji Dubey (District Manager, UNICEF, Hazaribag), Mr. Visheshwar Choubey (Representative, MLA-Barkagaon) and Dr. B. N. Prasad (Medical Officer, Barkagaon) have inaugurated this together. Mr. Nandji Dubey said that because of population growth, there is a need of health facilities in villages and this Vision Center will be instrumental for treatment of eye diseases. He expressed hope about handling of eye problems here usually found with people from 50 + age group.

On this occasion, Mr. Krishna Singh (Mukhiya, Sikri panchayat) insisted for screening camp at every panchayat of Barkagaon block and offered his support. Also Dr. Poonam Minj, Dr. Bhaskar and Dr. Indradev were present in the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Kirti Rawat (DPC, REH) has introduced about the program, described its main concern to provide quality eye health care services across rural pockets and said about endeavors in field.

The Vision Center will be opened from Monday to Saturday constantly and appointed Mrs. Prabha Bilung as well as Mr. Shyam Kishor as Ophthalmic Assistants. Here people can avail checkup facilities for refractive errors, cataract, pterygium, glaucoma and other vision problems. The cataract patients will be benefitted by surgery at LNJP eye hospital or Hazaribag sadar hospital without any charge.

There were 8 Sahiya didis participated in the function and they will mobilize eye patients to visit the center. Out of total 18 OPD today, 3 persons have been identified with cataract and their operations will take place soon without any charge.
