27 September 2022, Hazaribagh-Dumka-gaya-Deoghar: NBJK has been striving for a long time in the direction of eradicating needless blindness and providing quality as well as affordable eye health service to the common people in Jharkhand-Bihar.
At present it runs 04 units of LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital at Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh), Dumka, Kajha (Gaya) and Deoghar. The name of the eye hospital in Deoghar is Vimala Ramakrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital.
All these units of LNJPEH have total 230 beds, modern equipments, OTs, experienced ophthalmologists, trained medical staffs and proper arrangement of lodging-food for attendants. There are 11 Vision Centres at rural, semi-urban and urban areas of Hazaribagh, Chatra, Giridih, Gaya and Dumka districts. These Vision Centres are associated with LNJPEH and helps it to cover nearly 18 districts of both the states.
During 2021-22, LNJPEH emerged as a major eye care service provider with 100679 OPD, 24657 Cataract Surgeries, 984 Minor Surgeries, 30145 Refractive Corrections, 21500 Glasses and 752 Screening Camps. The hospital is linked with Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) and its Kajha Unit has received an appreciation certificate as the top performer.
Keeping view of the shortage of skilled work force in the field of eye care, NBJK started LNJP Paramedical Institute also at Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) which offers two years Diploma course of Ophthalmic Assistant.
