02 December 2024, Chakai-Deoghar: In a significant step towards agricultural empowerment, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), with support from the SBI Foundation, distributed electric motor pumps to farmers’ groups under the Gram Saksham Project. This initiative aims to provide irrigation facilities and enhance agricultural productivity for farmers across 30 villages in the Chakai block of Jamui district (Bihar) and the Deoghar Sadar block (Jharkhand).
Distribution in Chakai
At a distribution event held at the Sahana Colony Ground, 72 farmers’ groups from 15 villages of Chakai block received motor pumps. Mr. Shivshankar Singh, Block Agriculture Officer, and Mr. S.K. Gupta, Branch Manager, SBI Chakai Branch, distributed the pumps. Mr. Singh lauded the project for its efforts in strengthening the farming community and encouraged farmers to avail themselves of ongoing government schemes to boost agriculture.
Mr. Gupta, the SBI Branch Manager, emphasized the importance of opening bank accounts and informed farmers about various schemes designed to support agricultural activities. NBJK project representatives, including Mr. S. K. Yajal, Mr. Dhirendra Kumar, and Mr. N. K. Nagina, also participated in the event.
Distribution in Deoghar
In the Gokhudih village of Andhrigadar panchayat, 49 farmers’ groups were provided with electric motor pumps by Mr. Sahjanand Kumar, Probationary Officer, SBI Rohini, Mr. Lalan Kumar Roy, Mukhiya, and Mr. Suresh K. Das, Panchayat Secretary. Mr. Kumar also shared information about the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna for the financial security of farmers’ daughters.
NBJK Project Manager, Mr. Shahab Ansari, detailed the various activities under the Gram Saksham Project, including renovation of wells, deepening of ponds, farmer training sessions, and the provision of irrigation facilities.
Future Plans
The project will soon distribute electric motor pumps to 78 more farmers’ groups in Chakai block and 101 farmers’ groups in Deoghar Sadar block, benefitting a total of 1,800 farmers across 30 villages. This initiative aims to make irrigation accessible and support sustainable agricultural practices.
