26 September 2025, Jamui (Bihar): Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), with the support of LIC Housing Finance Limited, is implementing a transformative initiative to promote sustainable livelihood and social inclusion of 300 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Jamui Sadar, Jhajha, and Chakai blocks of Jamui district.

The project is designed to ensure access to rights, skill development, and income opportunities for PWDs. Key achievements so far include:

152 PWDs supported in securing UDID cards, with transport assistance provided to those needing repeated visits.

200 PWDs linked with government entitlements and schemes; 13 beneficiaries received aids, appliances, and assistive devices.

18 Self-Help Groups (SHGs)formed, engaging 190 PWD members to strengthen collective action and mutual support.

50 PWDs trained in vocational trades, mobility, and soft skills for initiating income-generating activities.

44 PWDs successfully established micro-enterprises with seed capital and training support.

Flex signboards are being designed to enhance branding and visibility of the new enterprises.

The project covers 18 villages in Jamui district and is already showing remarkable progress in enabling PWDs to achieve self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable income—many aiming to earn over Rs. 50,000 annually through their enterprises.

Speaking on the initiative, NBJK representatives emphasized the importance of creating inclusive opportunities that empower PWDs to become active contributors to society. Support from LIC Housing Finance Limited has been crucial in driving this mission forward.
