30 June 2021, Hazaribag: On 25th June a symposium on “Memories of Emergency 25 June 1975” held at NBJK co-ordination office. Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (Advocate) has chaired the event.

Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK & National Lok Samiti) introduced the theme and said that Emergency regime was a form of dictatorship which permitted arbitrary actions of the Government to torture common people. He called kindness, collective decision and honor to people’s views as vital ingredients of any democratic system and to restore these values we must get rid of the prejudices related to caste, religion, race, region, language etc.

Mr. Gautam Sagar Rana (Ex-MLA) who led anti-emergency movement in Hazaribag during his young age, appreciated NBJK for organizing this meeting and said about the conflict between State Power & People’s Power that resulted as defeat of State Power.

Also Mr. Murari Singh (Environmentalist), Mr. Umesh Pratap (Secretary-BJJK, Ichak), Prof. Pramod Kumar (Teacher, Dept. of Political Science, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag), Mr. Krishna Ram Thakur (Ex-Teacher), Mr. Bateshwar Prasad Mehta (Politician), Prof. Subodh Singh Shivgeet (Teacher, Dept. of Hindi, VBU), Dr. Prasann Mishra (Journalist) and Mr. Shamsher Alam (Social Worker) have shared their views.

From the chair, Mr. Swarup Chand Jain clarified that disagreement with or protest to the ruling power can’t be termed as sedition. He named mob lynching as black spots on our democracy. Mr. Jain called for people’s stake to improve our democratic setup and thanked NBJK for the seminar.
