13 February 2021, Giridih: With support of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra and Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation-Mumbai, District Lok Samiti-Giridih has organized a convention upon Making of Intoxicants Free Jharkhand. The program held at Hotel Mansarovar, Jhanda Chowk (Giridih) and inaugurated by Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti) who explained Lok Samiti’s view point to make India free from all kinds of intoxicants and appreciated Bihar Govt. as liquor is legally banned in the state. He said that intoxicants free family, society and nation can be developed in fact because this will improve financial condition, may check accidents-crimes and bound to bring prosperity easily. Our youths should adopt good habits to shun vindictive attitude and to move towards holiness as all religious faiths have same message to uplift humanity, he suggested. Mr. Girija Satish appealed the Government of Jharkhand to make a strict law against liquor and to ensure implementation of the same without any fear or favor.
Mrs. Bobby Devi (Ex-Mukhiya) has referred to her previous efforts to oust liquor from villages with support of women but blamed local police & administration for their non-cooperation to the campaign. Mr. Ramdev Vishwabandhu advised for anti-liquor resolution by every Gram Sabha as a community initiative to make intoxicants free Jharkhand. Mr. Jaswant Kumar (Divyang Samajik Seva Sansthan) said about the need to prohibit liquor as this spreads disturbance and affect children’s studies badly. Mrs. Usha Kumari (Vice President, District Lok Samiti) has demanded to ban liquor from immediate effect as it inflames road accidents and heinous crimes against children even. Mrs. Pramila Devi (Former Mukhiya) talked about lack of awareness among people that obstructed her election chances as she has launched anti-liquor drive in villages. Mr. Praveen Kumar (BAMCEF) applauded the convention’s objective and supported for legal restriction upon liquor in Jharkhand. Mr. Pashupati Nath Sharma (State Secretary, JSLS) shared his experience about liquor prohibition in three villages by Lok Samiti. Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, JSLS) read out the memorandum by Lok Samiti before the audience and all took oath to not take liquor. Mr. Vipin Yadav (Advocate, DLSA) said about moral as well as legal deterrent to boycott liquor.
Mr. Umesh Kumar (District Lok Samiti) has thanked all the participants on this occasion and assured for Lok Samiti’s commitment for people’s alertness against liquor. Also Mr. Jayshankar Agrawal, Mr. Sahdev Rana, Mr. Praveen Charan Pahari, Mr. Ramashankar Gupta and others have addressed the convention attended by over 100 delegates of Lok Samiti.
