25 September 2019, Ranchi: Under Child Reporters program by NBJK with support of UNICEF-Jharkhand, the activity of local media visit was organized at Govt. Middle School, Nagri. After welcome song by the students of Govt. Upgraded Middle School, Mahua Karanj Toli, Mrs. Sushmita Bhattacharjee (Program Manager) explained about program’s objectives.
Child Reporters Kiran Kumari and Shilpa Kumari presented their views upon child rights and child marriage respectively while Vinita Kumari recited her poem on child marriage. Vicky Badaik (Balalong School) informed about toll free child helpline and police helpline numbers as 1098 and 100 to get help in difficult time. Aquib Ansari (Saher School) shared a success story when he convinced a boy in his village for school enrollment. That boy was a child laborer with a bangle maker in Rajasthan.
During media visit, Mr. Keshav Bhagat (Ranchi Express) said that we must pay attention on our words for any news and should be ready to face adverse situations. Mr. Nishant Kumar (Dainik Bhaskar) focused upon shifting technology/formats of news reporting and integration of diverse views. Mr. Kamlesh Kesri (Dainik Jagran) valued education to achieve any destination. There were many questions for journalists from child reporters as Rozy Parveen (Nagri School) asked about their intervention to check child marriage and Vicky Badaik (Balalong School) inquired for rehabilitation of child laborers.
The media visit ended with signatures to endorse education instead of child marriage. Mrs. Sushmita Bhattacharjee thanked all for support. Messrs Mahendra Sinha, Shivcharan and Diwakar (project staffs) were in the event organizing team.
