22 August, Dumka: 16 people with disabilities have received grant of Rs. 5000 for each after completion of their 6 months training for skill development on computer, mobile servicing, bicycle repair, tailoring, bed-side nursing etc. under Community Based Rehabilitation program by NBJK with support of CBM India. Now they will start their own shop or business to use learnt skill for livelihood.
During grant distribution ceremony, Mr. K. Rajan (Project Coordinator) has said that self-reliance of PwDs is the key issue, we want to address through the program and we have identified such beneficiaries through survey to provide them training to develop their skill as service provider. This initiative will facilitate them to lead lives with a different perspective and point from where they can change a typical equation, he opined. Also Mr. Rajan has informed about a placement fair scheduled for skill trained PwDs on 29 August in Dumka to provide them an opportunity to get employment.
NBJK works with PwDs in 10 blocks of Dumka district and supports for their entitlement realization, CBR and economic independence under the program.
