20 November, Ranchi: On World Children’s Day, Mr. Ramesh Bais (Hon. Governor, Jharkhand) met the Child Reporters at Child Development Conference.

The function held at Hotel BNR Chanakya-Ranchi and the school children-cum-child reporters from Ranchi district under Child Reporters program by NBJK with support of UNICEF Jharkhand have participated in the event.

There were total 200 Child Reporters from 130 govt. schools across Ranchi, Giridih and West Singhbhum districts came to celebrate the occasion with Hon. Governor who stressed over eradication of child marriage, child labour & illiteracy. He said that our children are in need of indiscrimination and a safe environment to ensure their rights. Hon. Governor advocated for reducing academic burden and about judicious use of modern learning tools. He referred Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam as to Dream as dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action!

The child reporters have presented plays & cultural performances upon social evils and received appreciation from Hon. Governor. Also Mr. Dinesh Kumar, a Silver Medalist of Commonwealth Games has graced the conference.

During the function, Mrs. Kaninika Mitra (Head, UNICEF Jharkhand) explained about objective of the day to make people aware over children’s rights, their education and wellbeing to make a child friendly society. Mrs. Astha Alang (Communication Expert, UNICEF Jharkhand) mentioned that through the activity of Bal Sansad, more than 40,000 children have raised the issues of their health, nutrition, education, child labour, child marriage etc and they are being motivated for future opportunities.

Mrs. Sushmita Bhattacharji (Program Manager) and Mr. Vivek Kumar (Coordinator) have represented NBJK in the event.
