27 August, Hazaribag: A training on simple eye check up process was conducted for the staffs of Disability Rights program being executed in Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Nawada and Gaya districts with support of AVI-BLF, UK. Mr. Karunanidhi (Chatra District Supervisor, Jharkhand Rural Health Project by Sightsavers, Kolkata), his two aides Mr. Vikrant Kumar Singh and Mr. Suvendra Kumar Pandey have taught the trainees about use of vision chart, torch and tape-measure to gauge vision of children or adults in any less privileged rural setup.
There were more than 50 field workers, block coordinators and district coordinators from Disability Rights program who have attended the training on simple eye check up. Mrs. Sujata Prasad (Program Manager, Disability Rights) has introduced the training and said that such skill is much needed for the program staffs and a trained field worker can provide crucial service of eye check up much easily at villages or village schools. This will provide an edge to our intervention and identification of many visually impaired children or people will be possible for their further treatment or other support to them, she pointed out on the occasion.
After training, all the trainees were provided a set of Torch, Vision Chart and Tape-Measure for each to initiate simple eye check up during their field visits.
