07 February 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): There are 3 differently abled youth trainees in the program of Skill for Life at NBJK with support of Swades Foundation and HSBC, Mumbai. These are Sonu Kumar, Vikas Kumar and Hem Lal Murmu. Sonu and Vikas belong to Nawada Sadar and Roh blocks of Nawada district in Bihar while Hem Lal is from Churchu block in Hazaribag district.
All the three youths are interested to learn mobile phone repair skill and enrolled themselves in the concerned trade. Their class have been started from 20 January 2019 and they will continue here till 15 March. Sonu Kumar is merely 17 years old and passed 10th class Board Examination with first division. He bears the brunt of polio right from his childhood and has a severe mobility problem to walk. He was passionate about mobile phone and it’s applications. Sonu wanted to study in Intermediate but didn’t find it suitable because of his physical constraints. He learnt downloading songs & films in mobile phones and started to do this commercially at his home based family shop. When people come to him with other problems in their mobile phones, Sonu became interested to learn those skills also but couldn’t find any proper trainer. When he came to know about the same training course at NBJK, Hazaribag, he joined here.
Likewise Vikas Kumar too has passed class 10th and started to assist a local DJ group. Though he used to earn Rs. 500 for every program but this was irregular and inconvenient. This made Vikas to think for self-employment and he got admission in Mobile Repair course with Skill for Life program.
Hem Lal, the third differently abled guy has passed +2 (Intermediate Atrs) from Gulmohar College, Hazaribag and preferred to complete this two months course on Mobile Repair. He sees a bright prospect of this skill and plans to open a servicing centre for cell phones in his village.
Mr. Rohit Kumar (Faculty, Mobile Phone Repair) praises the determination of these differently abled trainees to learn new skills for self-employability.
