19 October 2022, Hazaribagh: On the occasion of Carers Day-19th October, nearly 115 caregivers have assembled at NBJK and contributed to the seminar held under the program of Caring of Carers supported by Carers Worldwide.

This was inaugurated by Mrs. Sumitra Kumari (President, Pragati Carers Seva Santha, Hazaribagh), Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) and Dr. Prasann Mishra (Bureau Chief, Dainik Hindustan) jointly.

During his introductory address, Mr. Girija Satish said that the people who take care of their old aged, sick or challenged family members are in dire need of social & governmental support. They must be provided pension, home based livelihood opportunity and health assistance, he mentioned.

Mrs. Sumitra Kumari has drawn attention to the irony with the persons engaged for 24 hours service to their dependents are suffering a lot but their problems are unheard. Dr. Prasann Mishra suggested about special provisions for carers in govt. schemes. Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) called the carers a precious human resource and their misery as a worldwide issue. He informed that today many associate organizations are observing Carers Day across India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Also Mrs. Sunita Devi, Mrs. Meena Devi, Ms. Shahnaz Khatoon, Mrs. Razia Khatoon, Mr. Vijay Paswan (Secretary, PCSS) and many others have expressed their views.

During the seminar, it was decided unanimously that soon a memorandum with the demands like Govt. recognition, allowance, inclusion in MNREGA, reserved fund in local bodies, caring-vocational training, free transportation, social security for carers and day/community care centre-aids & appliances for their dependents will be submitted to the authorities.

Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager, NBJK) anchored the proceeding and Mr. Rajkumar Gupta, Mrs. Vimla Rana, Mrs. Pratima Devi, Mr. Kamal Pandey, Mr. Sujit Kumar have comprised the organizing team.
