26 November 2025, Thakarahan (Bettiah), Bihar: A one-day Kisan–Mazdoor Worker Conference, organized by Bettiah District Lok Samiti, was held on 24 November at the Thakarahan market complex with strong public participation. The meeting was chaired by social worker Shri Raju Kumar Singh and conducted by JP Senani Shri Nandlal Babu. More than a hundred men and women attended.
The conference began with tributes to Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and focused on major issues affecting the region, including corruption, rising unemployment, weakening law and order, the flood–drought cycle, agricultural distress, and the ground reality of prohibition in Bihar.
In a written message, Lok Samiti’s National President and noted Gandhian thinker Shri Girija Satish expressed hope for stricter enforcement of prohibition laws and urged the state government to prioritize agriculture, ensure timely supply of seeds and fertilizers, improve irrigation facilities, and restore the mandi system for fair prices.
Speaking on the occasion, Bihar State Lok Samiti General Secretary Shri Shivji Singh highlighted the persistent challenges of poverty, joblessness, and recurring flood damage faced by farmers in Bettiah. He warned that if administrative functioning does not improve, the Lok Samiti will launch peaceful satyagraha and mass movements based on truth and nonviolence.
Program convenor Shri Ravindra Nath Tiwari called for renewed local mobilization against corruption and announced that the Lok Samiti will expand membership and hold regular monthly meetings across the district.
Several other community leaders also addressed the gathering.
