16 September 2021, Chatra: At local Town Hall, District Lok Samiti has organized a convention upon Liquor Prohibition under joint auspices of NBJK and Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation-Mumbai. The program was chaired by a senior social worker of Chatra district Dr. Badri Prasad Verma (Founder, Gramoday Chetna Kendra) and Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti) was chief guest.
Highlighting over objective of this convention, Mr. Girija Satish said about liquor the evil that destroys human life from every angle. This is making our society hollow; depreciating all important aspects like health-education-intelligence and encouraging daily crimes against women but our Governments never consider prohibition as their issue. Though Bihar Govt. has initiated to right direction but other state governments don’t treat this as any concern rather they promote liquor by distributing licenses for new shops, he stated. The President of National Lok Samiti explained that we will have to create consciousness through programs in every district so that the people can raise their voice and ask the Govt. of Jharkhand for complete prohibition in the state and memorandums from all districts are being submitted to the Chief Minister.
The PRIs Representatives from different blocks have addressed on the occasion and announced to launch a campaign against liquor. Mrs. Anita Yadav (Mukhiya, Gandhariya panchayat) added that like the mission for Open Defecation Free village & panchayat, this is our task to make Liquor Free village similarly.
Also Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti) and Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) have expressed their views while the girl children from GCK run Education Center presented impressive songs against liquor. Dr. Sabita Banerji anchored the dais.
