20 August 2022, Ranchi: Under UNICEF supported Child Reporters program by NBJK, activities like Balcharcha and Learning Visit are going on in the field.
At Angara block office, 26 Child Reporters from 7 schools have met the BDO & BAO on 17th August. The CRs put various problems related to their schools like playground-toilet-drinking water, liquor shop in front and irregular electricity supply. They questioned about incidents of child marriage & child labour despite laws and role of administration to curb these malpractices. The Govt. officials assured for solution and encouraged the children to inform ward member, mukhiya or teacher in such cases for quick action.
Another discussion by the CRs held at Nagri block with Mrs. Punam Devi, Jila Parishad member on 18th August. She heard the children patiently when they drawn her attention about school centric issues and frequent denial of child rights in daily life. The JiP member supported grievance of child reporters and promised to help.
Again a Learning visit for CRs took place at Modern AnganWadi Center, village-Roladih, block-Manjhari, district-West Singhbhum on 18th August. 25 CRs from 5 schools have participated in the visit. AWC workers have explained about modus-operandi of Anganwadi before them.
It’s significant that 1677 children (girls-1059, boys-618) from 60 Government middle schools in 06 blocks of Ranchi district are associated with the program as Child Reporters.
