19-20 December 2022, Hazaribagh: As an activity of Inclusive Eye Health Programme in Hazaribagh district by NBJK-sightsavers, two events of Advocacy Meeting, Sensitization Workshop-cum-Training on Gender Mainstreaming & Disability Inclusion took place at NBJK and Hotel Snow Valley respectively under joint auspices of NBJK, Sightsavers, JSLPS, National Rural Health Mission and National Blindness Control Programme.
Total 85 Community Health Volunteers, OPDs’ Leaders, ASHAs, AWC workers and Hospital staffs have participated on these occasions.
On 19th December, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) was present in such a meeting held at NBJK and he referred about free eye care services including transportation & Cataract surgery at NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparaan, Hazaribagh) for PwDs under IEHP and reiterated the goal to declare Hazaribagh as Cataract Free district up to the year 2023. He said that nearly 80% cases of blindness can be avoided by timely & proper treatment.
On 20th at Hotel Snow Valley-Hazaribagh, Dr. Jitendra Kumar (Senior Programme Officer, Sightsavers), In-charge Medical Officer of Keredari CHC, Mr. Kirti Rawat (DPC-IEHP), Mr. Karunanidhi, Mr. Akash from LNJPEH have attended the training-cum-sensitization workshop.
During both the training, Dr. (Mrs.) Utkarsha Navgire, a community health expert from Pune was the resource person who discussed upon the topics like equality, sustainable development goals, rights and accessibility of PwDs-women-old age people, importance of health and especially eye health in context of gender mainstreaming.
