21 February 2026, Patna: The Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) project implemented by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with the support of Bajaj Finserv Limited under its CSR initiative has brought significant positive change in the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) across 20 slum settlements in Patna.

Between January 2024 and December 2025, the project directly benefited 5,000 persons with disabilities by promoting dignity, independence, and equal participation in community life.

Key achievements include:

  • Establishment of 1,000 sustainable livelihood enterprises
  • Distribution of 800 assistive devices (Aids & Appliances)
  • Strengthening of 150 Self-Help Groups along with 21 Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) and their Federation
  • Linkage of 2,000 PwDs to government schemes and entitlements
  • Educational and ADL support to 400 children with disabilities
  • Sensitization of nearly 100,000 community members and 10,000 school children across 100 schools

The project demonstrated that with appropriate skill training, financial support, and community-based rehabilitation services, persons with disabilities can successfully engage in more than 50 different livelihood trades — ranging from tailoring, retail, and food enterprises to technical services and transport operations.

The CBID approach focuses on removing social and environmental barriers, strengthening community systems, and ensuring equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in education, healthcare, social protection, and livelihood.

This initiative reinforces that inclusive development is not charity, but a rights-based pathway toward sustainable and equitable social transformation.
