Sub-Committee Meeting of #FamilyCounsellingCentre @MinistryWCD

31 January 2018, Hazaribag: Family Counselling Centre has invited it’s Sub-Committee members in the quarterly meeting held in the premises of Women’s Police Station, Hazaribag. The meeting was presided by Mrs. Swarnlata Kujur (Police Inspectress) and Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, FCC) has placed the action report followed after last meeting and shared a compliance of the suggestions by honourable members.

Mrs. Gupta has pointed out that women SHGs are being consulted in the enquiry process for any case, we ensure support from PRI members & prominent people for reconciliation process and in the cases of love affair, consent of parents/guardians of both the parties have become manadatory for any action now. Within the period of November’17 to January’18, there are 34 cases registered at FCC, she reported and explained about their nature as Wife-Husband Dispute (14), Alcoholism & Violence (09), Couples’ Dispute with Old-Aged In-Laws (06), Second Marriage by Husband (02), Land Dispute (01), Neighbourhood Dispute (01) along with the Dispute with Father & Brothers (01). We could be able to settle 13 cases out of these and remaining 21 cases are in the process of resolution, Mrs. Meera Gupta has briefed before the Sub-Committee members.

During the meeting, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has suggested for villagers’ team based enquiry to any case and Ms Veena Sethi (Advocate) has advised for awareness meeting with school/college students to deal with premature love affairs. District police representative Mrs. Swarnlata Kujur has assured that the police will support in investigation or reconciliation of the cases and expect for better coordination with FCC.

It was decided unanimously that next meeting will take place in the campus of Women’s Police Station, Hazaribag. #Youths Completed #SkillTraining @WeareSwades @HSBC

31 January 2018, Hazaribag: 50 youth trainees of 8th batch from Skill for Life project have completed their two months residential training in the trades of Basic Computer Applications (BCA), General Duty Assistant (GDA) and Mobile Phone Repair. The project is being supported by Swades Foundation & HSBC, Mumbai.

On this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has distributed course completion certificates and toolkit/resource material among the trainees. In his brief address, Mr. Satish Girija has touched many relevant issues like workplace solution and security for the trainees, particularly girls to be placed as GDA in nursing homes or hospitals. He requested the youths to stay in touch with NBJK for at least next 6 months for tracking purpose also. These short-term courses are designed to get entry level jobs only and one needs to enhance his or her ability despite placement, he said. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer-NBJK & Programme Coordinator) has conveyed best wishes for all pass-out youths and suggested them to follow good behaviour with patience at their work place. We must flourish our relationship and please keep us informed about your career development and we will be happy to support you always, he assured the youths.

There were 50 trainees (BCA-13, GDA-30, Mobile Repair-07) who received certificates and 37 have got placement opportunities on the day. Mr. Kirti Rawat (Placement Officer) has informed that total 418 youths have been trained under Skill for Life with 70% placement ratio. He said that most of the youths belong to Mobile Repair trade are self-employed and generating employment for others while BCA skilled youths work as data operators at various Government departments, NGOs and corporate enterprises, likewise GDA course has enabled village girls to work with nursing homes & hospitals. Our trainees are working successfully at Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Durgapur, Gaya, Koderma and other places, he added.

#NBJK Celebrates 69th #RepublicDay

26 January 2018, Hazaribag: 69th Republic Day of the nation was observed gracefully at NBJK coordination office and Mr Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has hoisted the national flag. He conveyed his best wishes to all staffs, trainees, community people on this occasion and appealed them to bridge the gap of social discriminations. He said that we must shun liquor to make our families more equal and violence free. As the citizens of India, we are bound to perform some duties also for our nation, Mr. Girija Satish has reminded.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has mentioned the Republic Day as an opportunity to revive our national life and said that NBJK stands as an awakening centre to visualize new India. We worked towards women empowerment through the programmes of girls’ education, SHGs, reproductive health, Family Counselling Centre while our interventions as skill development training for youths, eye care, rights of PwDs, Lok Samiti have enabled thousands of people to make their lives better, Mr. Satish Girija added. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) has termed the day as resolution day also and asked the youths to channelize their energy in right direction. He said that all great leaders have treasured honesty and integrity in their hearts and reached their goals absolutely.

Also a tableau upon the activities of Child Centred Community Development programme (with support of Plan India) at Churchu block has participated in the Republic Day celebration by District administration. This depicted about basic expectations of our school children. This shown a model school with attractive class-room, interesting teaching-learning materials, sanitation & health checkup facilities. NBJK tableau was widely appreciated by the spectators. Republic Day was celebrated at all branch offices and schools run by NBJK.

06 January 2018, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): An inter-centre Quiz, Esaay, Drawing & Spelling competition for school girls from Remedial Coaching Centres (RCC) was held at the Coordination Office of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra. Total 42 students from the RCCs at Jhumra, Lalpur Chowk, Amrit Nagar, Babhanwai, Demotaand, Baihari, Mandaikhurd, Silwar, Nagwaan, Rola have participated in this event joyfully.

After overall assessment, Ms Khushi Rani from Amrit Nagar was declared first while Ms Komal Kumari of the same village became second and Ms Usha Kumari from Babhanwai got third position among the participants. These girls have got first, second and third prizes whereas all other contestants have received consolation prizes from Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) on the dais. On this occasion, Mr. Sharma opined that RCC aims to support quality school education for girls in rural areas so that they can have academic achievements in the subjects like English, maths & science. Also he said that the program is like a preventive measure against early marriage of girl children as education can change our mindset.

Many RCC teachers like Messrs Ganesh Vishwakarma, Md. 28 December 2017, Giridih: 125 trainees of Rozgar Training Centre at Giridih have received their course completion certificates in a function held at RTC premises. These youths belong to 7th batch of RTC being supported by Axis Bank Foundation under the Program of Sustainable Livelihood. They have completed their 3 months courses like Basic Computer Application, Tally, Beautician, Tailoring, General Duty Assistant, Mobile Phone Repairing & Electician.

On this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has greeted all the guests and trainees present in the gathering. As chief guest of this ceremony, Mr. Kameshwar Paswan (Vice-Chairman, Giridih Zila Parishad) has praised NBJK for the programs on Skill Development Training to youths and Rights to Differently Able People in the district. he emboldened the youths for self-employment and placement with help of the skills they learnt here. As the special guest, Mr. Dinesh Yadav (Chairman, Giridih Nagar Parishad) has appreciated updated outfits and bridal makeup demonstration by RTC trainees. This shows the quality of training and trainers also, he added and conveyed his best compliments to the passing out batch. RTC has invited representatives of two local potential employers like Vishwanath Nursing Home and City Care Hospital as the special guests for this event. Mr. Dokaniya (Vishwanath Nursing Home, Giridih) admitted that RTC trained girls do better as General Duty Assistant and he offered support for further On Job Training & placement for such trainees. As well as Mr. Sameer Choudhury (MD, City Care Hospital, Giridih) has applauded the way RTC provides training to youths in different trades. He promised to provide a sewing machine to RTC for tailoring training.

#LordBuddhaHomeforChildren Celebrates #Christmas

25 December 2017, Silaunja (Bodhgaya): NBJK managed Lord Buddha Home for Children has celebraed Merry Christmas with a different tone and a number of events took place here in presence of Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) and Mr. Ton Cable (Representative-SKB, the Netherlands) on this holy occasion. This started with distribution of rice, flour, sugar, salt, biscuit, blanket, sari among 350 people from 22 villages like Silaunja, Bakraur, Barkathiya, Hatiyar around LBHC by Bodhgaya Heart Foundation, a community of Vietnamese people settled in USA. These followers of Lord Buddha have chosen Christmas Day  for their religious rituals and established a resemblance between two great personalities generously.

The function was followed by friendly sports matches of Football, Kabaddi and Running competitions among the children of LBHC. Despite being in  old age, Mr. Ton Cable too has played with the children and motivated them. When the game was over, all the participants have received prizes from Messrs Satish Girija and Ton Cable. After lunch, these children became busy to arrange Christmas Gathering scheduled in evening. They have decorated the stage magnificently and invited Mr. Satish Girija with Mr. Ton Cable to join their programme. These orphan children of LBHC have made the Christmas memorable by presenting a number of cultural activities. They cut a big cake and celebrated happy birthday of Jesus Christ, beloved son of the God.

On this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija has welcomed Mr. Ton Cable and said that Jesus is nothing but a symbol of love, kindness, compassion and by celebrating Christmas we orient ourselves towards such divine qualities. Mr. Ton Cable has greeted all at LBHC and conveyed a lot of best wishes to them from Mrs. Ine Buma (Patroness-SKB, the Netherlands) who couln’t attend the programme due to poor health. Also Mr. Ton has appreciated the children for such an attractive adornment of podium.

This propelled them to present a variety of song, music and dance in group/solo before the audience. After welcome song by Neha group, Sweety-Geeta-Khushee-Sonali, Chitra Didi group, Pooja, Pankaj, Sonam-Pooja-Gudiya-Sheesam have performed dance with the songs like Papa mere Papa, Aaja Nachle, Kola beri, Dhing Chika, Chalti hai kya and many more. These children have shown many difficult Yoga exercises too and earned rich applause from spectators. Ms Chitra Sahoo (Counsellor, LBHC) has supported the children for rehearsal and participated with them actively. The program was anchored by Master Sumant (an LBHC boy) and Ms Chitra Sahoo has thanked all for the teamwork. The program ended with a delicious group dinner.

Workshop on #Handwashing through #BehaviourChangeModel amongst #SchoolChildren @Plan_India

22 December 2017, Hazaribag: A district level workshop on sanitation through behaviour change model with school children in Churchu block was convened at Hotel Canary Inn under the joint auspices of Plan India, Lifebuoy and NBJK. An apparent and small message backed by teacher, mother, family and community can be helpful to change the very behaviour of handwashing with soap as a habit among school children, Mrs. Meeta Jaruhar (Regional Manager, Plan India) has pointed out here. She insisted for motivating children with steps like awareness, commitment, experiment, reward orderly and displayed “Paanch ki Pathshala” the resource material developed by Plan India to promote Handwashing practice among children. Mrs. Jaruhar said that handwashing with soap before going to lavatory, breakfast/lunch/dinner and at the time of taking bath can ensure sound health of our children.

Mr. Rakesh Kumar (Dy. Superintendent of Education) has supported the very idea of behaviour change for a healthy childhood and Mr. Uday Kumar Singh (Additional Dist. Program Officer, Jharkhand Education Project) has assured for a combined campaign for the same. Mr. Sanjay Tiwary (Media In-Charge, JEP) has called the school children as real ambassadors for sanitation campaign and shared about relevant activities by JEP over the issue. Mr. Narendra Kumar (Asst. Engineer, JEP) has informed that currently 675 schools have running water facility in Hazaribag district and we are trying to develop this in other schools also. In many schools, teachers & students are aware about the benefits of handwashing with soap but the schools lack proper infrastructure to support the practice, Mr. Vijay Ram (Block Education Officer, Churchu) has added.

Mr. Ranjan Kumar (NBJK, Churchu) has focused upon the roles of principals, teachers, SMC members and Baal sansad. During the workshop, NBJK staffs have demonstrated the defined process of handwashing with soap. About 20 Block Education Officers, Program Officers, Resource Persons, Members/Presidents of School Management Committees have participated in the workshop. Its worth mentioning that NBJK-Plan has launched handwashing campaign in 39 schools of Churchu block under Child Centered Community Development Program. The workshop was anchored by Mr. Alok toppo and arranged by Mrs. Shashika Kachchap, Mr. Anshumaan Kumar, Mr. Pradeep Bharti and Mr. Rajkumar from NBJK, Churchu.

#PwDs Participates in #Sports#Painting on #WorldDisabilityDay @ActionVillageIn @BigLotteryfund

04 December 2017, Hazaribag: A district level sports & painting competition among People with Disabilities was held inside district stadium on the occasion of World Disability Day. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Pradeep Prasad (Social Worker) who called for mainstreaming of nearly 25, 000 identified PwDs of the district and praised the event for its significance. World Disability Day was celebrated by around 150 PwDs from Sadar, Churchu, Katkamdaag and Ichak blocks of the district under the banner of Jila Viklaang Sansthan, a DPO (Disable People’s Organization) promoted by NBJK under Disability Rights program with support of Action Village India & Big Lottery Fund, UK.

The PwDs have participated in the action games like Tricycle Race, Caliper Race, Musical Chair, Bucket Ball and Painting. Messrs Vasudev Bhokta (Katkamdaag), Baalkrishna Prasad (Katkamdaag) and Surjan Manjhi (Churchu) stood first, second and third consequently for Tricycle Race. Under the category of Calipers Race, Mr. Hemlal Murmu (Churchu) became first while Mr. Ajay Kumar (Ichak) and Mrs. Anita Kumari (Sadar) got second and third position accordingly. Musical Chair (female group) winners were Ms Deepshikha (Sadar), Mrs. Raziya Khatoon (Ichak) and Ms Anju Kumari (Katkamdaag) on first, second and third positions respectively while all Churchu youths like Messrs Hemlal Murmu, Ajeet Ram and  Mukesh Rana became first, second and third  among male participants of Musical Chair contest. Likewise Messrs Ashok Das (Sadar), Rohit Mahto (Ichak) and Tanwee Singh (Sadar) have emerged as first, second and third winners respectively. In Painting competition, youngsters like Kunal Kumar, Surabhi Kumari and Ruby Kumari from Sadar block have grabbed first, second and third places correspondingly.

During the activities, participants were encouraged by audience and all the winners have received prize from Ms Garima Singh (District Social Welfare Officer) who is also a trainee from Indian Administrative Services. She said that such events are helpful to promote rights of PwDs in a beter way and there is no need to be worried since many PwDs have clicked UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) as her batchmates. District Social Welfare Department will look after the problems of PwDs certainly, she assured publicly.

#Certificate #Placement for Trainees of #SkillforLife @WeAreSwades @HSBC

30 November 2017, Hazaribag: The 7th batch trainees of Skill for Life program by NBJK with support of HSBC – Swades Foundation, Mumbai, have received their course completion certificates and placement offers today. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) has distributed certificates among them and said that these youths are supposed to equip themselves with not only professional skills but with the qualities needed for empowered citizenry also. He appealed the youths to develop self-confidence and positive approach for success.

Mr. Rupesh Mallik (Center Manager, RTC – Hazaribag) has appreciated Skill for Life program for enty level jobs and this should be tapped by youths, he pointed out during the function. On this occasion many trainees like Anjana Topno, Sinki Kumari, Dilip, Sonu have praised discipline, self-dependence, low cost management, more knowledge in less time etc. as main features to make the program different. Mr. Kirti Rawat (Placement Officer) has informed that there were 46 trainees in the batch as 24 for General Duty Assistant, 10 for BCA and 12 for Mobile Servicing. Out of these, 22 from GDA, 8 from BCA and 10 from Mobile Servicing have got placement or self-employment now. He said that most of our trainees like Vikas and Rakesh from BCA, Champa, Bulbul, Manita Hansda, Pranjali from GDA and Naurangdev, Lalan, Kaushal and many more have livelihood options now. These youths have been instructed to inform us in case of any problem at their work place for timely intervention, he affirmed.

Also faculty members like Mrs. Sandhya Kumari, Mr. Subodh Kumar, Mr. Amar and Mr. Rohit were present in the certification ceremony. Skill for Life provides 2 months residential skill development training in Basic Computer Application, Mobile Servicing and General Duty Assistant (Health Care) to youngsters belong to remote villages. The program is known for it’s high placement ratio.
