25 September 2019, Ranchi: Under Child Reporters program by NBJK with support of UNICEF-Jharkhand, the activity of local media visit was organized at Govt. Middle School, Nagri. After welcome song by the students of Govt. Upgraded Middle School, Mahua Karanj Toli, Mrs. Sushmita Bhattacharjee (Program Manager) explained about program’s objectives.

Child Reporters Kiran Kumari and Shilpa Kumari presented their views upon child rights and child marriage respectively while Vinita Kumari recited her poem on child marriage. Vicky Badaik (Balalong School) informed about toll free child helpline and police helpline numbers as 1098 and 100 to get help in difficult time. Aquib Ansari (Saher School) shared a success story when he convinced a boy in his village for school enrollment. That boy was a child laborer with a bangle maker in Rajasthan.

During media visit, Mr. Keshav Bhagat (Ranchi Express) said that we must pay attention on our words for any news and should be ready to face adverse situations. Mr. Nishant Kumar (Dainik Bhaskar) focused upon shifting technology/formats of news reporting and integration of diverse views. Mr. Kamlesh Kesri (Dainik Jagran) valued education to achieve any destination. There were many questions for journalists from child reporters as Rozy Parveen (Nagri School) asked about their intervention to check child marriage and Vicky Badaik (Balalong School) inquired for rehabilitation of child laborers.

The media visit ended with signatures to endorse education instead of child marriage. Mrs. Sushmita Bhattacharjee thanked all for support. Messrs Mahendra Sinha, Shivcharan and Diwakar (project staffs) were in the event organizing team.

23 September 2019, Ranchi : On the occassion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti and Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra organized a convention upon “Gandhi Ka Sandesh” or the Message of Gandhi at Shantman Nagar office of NBJK. Mr. Ivan Nutbrown, a British Gandhian and an admirer of India, was the chief guest of this program. He served as a volunteer at Bagaha Ashram (Gaya) during his youth and highly impressed by the thoughts of Gandhi, Vinoba and JP. He leads an active life based upon Gandhian philosophy. His address was focused upon the image and relevance of Gandhiji in UK & Europe. He said that there was a divided psyche upon Gandhi which shown us Churchill to call him a half naked fakir and at the same time made thousand of labourers at Lancashire to love him. Mr. Nutbrown called 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi as the world event and accepted that new generation knows him through the film by Richard Attenborough. For liberals in UK & Europe, Gandhi is an inspiration who provided ideological foundation for leaders like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela, he said. He mentioned the success of Gandhian groups in UK on environmental issues and about the very campaign of Ekta Parishad as Jay Jagat March 2020 from Delhi to Geneva supported by Gandhian groups based in western countries. Mr. Nutbrown shared about his association with an organization “Khadi London” and said about people’s positive perception for Gandhi who contributed a lot to independence movement of India with peace & non-violence. In the convention, Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti) called Gandhi as a complete great personality who touched almost every aspect of human life. He was religious but not communal, Girija said and lighted upon 11 vows of Gandhi, concept of Trusteeship and his idea of rational development. The national president of Lok Samiti stated that Gandhiji lived his principles and changed people’s mindset with programs like Champaran Satyagrah, liquor prohibition and by opposing social evils openly. Gandhi is our strength against the rising incidents of mob lynching, liquor led crimes and violence. He suggested to celebrate 150th anniversary of Gandhi by organizing Goodwill programs across India. Also messrs Wazir Ahmad (vice-president, JSLS), K. G. Azad (national co-ordinator, Lok Samiti), Shailendra Mishra, Dr. Viswanath Azad, Narendra Mahto, Manoj Dangi, Rajeev Singh, Shankar Rana (co-ordinator, JSLS) and others have expressed their views. The convention has passed a resolution unanimously to celebrate Mahatma’s birthday as Goodwill Day in Jharkhand.

20 September 2019, Hazaribag : In collaboration with National Program for Control of Blindness-Jharkhand and NBJK, Sightsavers conducted a Vision Building workshop at conference hall of Civil Surgeon office, Hazaribag. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Marcel Aind (Director, NPCB-Jharkhand) in presence of Dr Rajmohan, Dr. K.K. Lal (Head, Eye Department, Hazaribag Medical Collage), Dr. Krishna Kumar (Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag), Dr. Jitendra Kumar (Program Officer, Sightsavers), Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK). There were 40 Ophthalmologists, NGO heads, BTTs as participants and discussed  many issues related to increase Cataract Surgical Rate and to improve quality eye care service delivery with development of community health workforce in Hazaribag district. Dr Rajmohan took technical session on quality surgery output while Dr. Jitendra Kumar has focused upon the objectives of the Rural Eye Health program with ideas to increase CSR including effective, accountable management system. Dr Marcel Aind discussed about financial as well as other aspects of government facilities under NPCB and ensured to improve CSR in the District.

16 September 2019, Jainagar (Koderma): At Upgraded Middle School in Kakercholi panchayat of Jainagar block of Koderma district, Parivartan Utsava celebrated was celbrated by the benficiaries of Holistic Rural Development program with support of HDFC Bank. Mr. Amit Yadav (Ex-MLA) was the chief guest on this occassion who called women empowerment as the very first step towards overall development. He appealed them to be aware and alert for their rights. Mr. Jayprakash Ram (Pramukh) appreciated NBJK for activities to strengthen women in villages. Mrs. Archna Kumari (Mukhiya) presided the event and requested the people to keep cleanliness and plantation around their houses. The guests distributed sports items, learning materials, agriculture tools, pumpsets etc. among the beneficiaries of HRDP.

16 September 2019, Amritnagar (Hazaribag): 37 trainees from the trades of General Duty Assistant and Basic Computer Application have been awarded with course completion certificate and placement offer after their 2 months residential training under HSBC Skill for Life program with s of Swades Foundation, Mumbai. Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) distributed the certificates among them and said that there is no alternative of work experience. If you are satisfied with the course, please send one friend here to get training, he appealed. Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer-NBJK & Program Manager) told the passing out youths to inform immediately in case of any problem at their work place. Also the trainees have shared their learning experience. Mrs. Sunita, Mr. Anurag and Mr. Om Prakash (faculties & staff) were in the event organizing team. Next batch started on 18th September 2019.

11 September 2019, Anuppur (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh state Lok Samiti participated in a peace & goodwill journey namely “Ek Hai Dhartee-Ek Hain Log” with other organizations like Rashtriya Yuva Sangathan, Khudai Khidmatgar and Sarvodaya Mitra Mandal. Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti), Mr. Bhupendra Tripathi (President, MP state Lok Samiti) and other office bearers of the organization have joined the inaugural function of this statewide goodwill campaign. On this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish differentiated religion from hypocrisy and said that our political parties and media should revisit their approach that pushes Indian democracy in a wrong direction. He favored for systemic reforms and appealed to oppose social problems of superstitions as well as liquor consumption. Mr. Girija Satish focused upon cultural values of India as a force to unite the nation. The campaign will end on 2 October at Bhopal.

30 June 2019, Patna: Lok Samiti, a non-political and Gandhian organization celebrated it’s 42nd foundation day at Charkha Samiti, Kadamkuan and hoisted organizational flag at LS state office. On this occasion, a symposium was organized upon “Relevance of JP’s Thoughts & Role of Lok Samiti”. The program was presided by Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti). Its significant that on 30 June 1977, Loknayak JP has instituted Lok Samiti, a non-political body and himself was it’s first president.

From the chair, Mr. Girija Satish declared about objective of LS as people’s control over the government and it’s affairs. Lok Samiti holds a special position under various socio-political experiments by JP and contributed to a vibrant Indian democracy, he pointed out. Mr. Girija Satish explained about important programs by Lok Samiti with focus upon right to livelihood for youths, land to landless, electricity-road-water-health-education facilities, promotion of intercaste-interreligion marriage, systemic reform in legislature-executive-judiciary, opposing casteism-communalism-liquor-superstition and empowerment of women-farmer-landless people. In coming days Lok Samiti will advocate for the issues like a strong law for liquor prohibition across India and a comprehensive systemic reform in governance, he stated.

As chief guest of program, Mr. Shivanand Tiwary (ex-Bihar minister & JP movement agitator) expressed deep concern over communal feeling on rise and a disdainful posture against Gandhian ideology. He appealed people to have real meaning of RamRajya and to disseminate it. Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti) denounced casualties due to incephalitis & sunstroke, scarcity of water and serious threat to environment as well as to our composite culture. This situation is to be changed, he opined. Mr. Narendra Singh (distinguished guest & ex-agriculture minister of Bihar) said about high ideology of JP movement and the dream of rural development through agriculture, cottage-small industries but now-a-days people are suffering from communalism, capitalism, unemployment and a different version of religion.

On this juncture, two senior office bearers of Lok Samiti as Mr. Vijay Kumar (President, Bihar State Lok Samiti) and Mr. Wazeer Ahmad (Vice-president, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) were honored with shawl by the guests. These gentlemen have contributed a lot to make Lok Samiti stronger. Mr. Shivji Singh (General Secretary, BSLS) anchored the program and vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Saudagar (Coordinator, BSLS).

Around 200 people from different districts of Bihar came to attend Lok Samiti foundation day program including Mr. Vidyabhushan (ex-MLA), Mr. Jagannath Singh, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Mrs. Meena Devi, Mrs. Kranti Rashosh, Mr. Satyendra Kumar, Mr. Rajendra Manjhi, Mr. Shankar Rana, Mr. Radheshyam Filkus, Mr. Mansoor Alam, Mr. Umashankar, Mr. Nagendra Sinha, Mr. Alok Kumar, Dr. Umesh, Mrs. Fool Kumari, Mr. Manoj Paswan, Mr. Parmeshwar Yadav and Mr. Ramnaresh Kaushik.    

16 June 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): A Legal Awareness Camp was organized under joint auspices of NBJK and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Hazaribag. NBJK run Capacity Building Program for Social Workers and Family Counselling Centre with support of BFW-Germany and Central-State Social Welfare Board respectively, have played important role to arrange the event. The camp has disseminated useful information upon Mediation to resolve legal disputes.

Mr. Satyendra Kumar Singh (District & Session Judge-cum-DLSA Chairperson) was the chief guest on the occasion who appreciated mediation as a right approach for solution when judiciary wants to get rid of ballooning backlog cases. We can avoid needless disputes through mutual settlement by spending less money and less time, he said while addressing the audience. Before this, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) welcomed the chief guest with DLSA team and recalled own experience of mediating village disputes through Lok Samiti that resulted as more effective. Mr. Gaurav Sahay (advocate) has termed mediation as a process of settlement and pointed out its success in family conflicts. Mr. Sanjeev Jha (Secretary, DLSA) informed about a well-trained team of mediator advocates with DLSA that ensures involvement of both the parties for decision, maintains privacy of the process and supports to get a decision through dialogue. Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh (advocate) told about the condition of No Appeal at higher court for the case decided once with mediation process. Its success rate is about 50-60% and more importantly it reduces the number of fake cases, he explained.

Mr. Bhaiya Mukesh (advocate & DLSA team leader) discussed upon the very process of mediation, said about its application for any civil case and the potentiality to wind-up multiple cases together. Md. Moazzam (advocate) has called any mediation based conclusion as a win-win situation for both the parties that enables people to be connected. Mr. Anuj Kumar (advocate) requested the participants to get support from DLSA if they lack resources and denied for justice.

About 70 women SHG members from Amrit Nagar, Nutan Nagar, Oriya, Sakhiya, Rola villages and Hazaribag town have participated in this legal awareness camp. Mr. Rajeev Singh has anchored the proceeding that ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, Family Counselling Centre).

15 June 2019, Amritnagar (Hazaribag): Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has flagged off an Awareness Chariot (Jagran Ratha) against Child Marriage as an activity of Plan India supported Child Centered Community Development Program. The chariot was decorated prettily with ICE material related to main points of The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and it will move across about 100 villages of Sadar, Katkamdaag, Churchu, Daree, Katkamsaandi, Daroo, Padma and Chouparan blocks in Hazaribag district till 22 June 2019 to make people ready for a big No to Child Marriage.

Before showing a green flag to the Ratha, Mr. Girija Satish said that Child Marriage is a social evil and an illegal practice which must be stopped now. He appealed the people to negate marriage of girls below 18 years and boys less than 21 years of their age and must inform the local police, Block Development Officer or Deputy Commissioner to stop such incidents.

Mr. Ranjan Kumar (Program Manager, CCCD) added that one may inform to 1098, the toll free number of Childline also which takes its cognizance much promptly. The parents-relatives-neighbors-familiars, pandit-maulvi-pastor, caterer & other service providers with the adult male who marries with minor girl – these all can be punished with 2 years imprisonment or Rs. 1 lakh penalty or both will be imposed together, he informed. Bhaiya Anshuman (Asst. PM, CCCD) was of the view that our children or minor citizens should be saved from child marriage as it affects their body and mind severely.

Many senior staffs like Messrs Pravesh Singh, Mithilesh Kumar, Meera Gupta, Arun Verma, Rajeev Singh, Abhay Kumar and young trainees were present on this occasion who chanted the slogans against child marriage to encourage the campaign.

10 June 2019, Koderma: Under Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) with support of HDFC Bank Ltd., Mumbai, a convention of the beneficiaries was organized on occasion of World Environment fortnight. As the chief guest of this convention, Mr. Alok Trivedy (Dy. Dev. Commissioner, Koderma) has inaugurated the convention and appreciated NBJK for implementation of environment friendly programmes. He said that a relevant issue is being raised in this convention and we must see our environment in its totality to save it if wishing survival of our future generations. The very concern of environment is quite sensitive that needs a collective responsibility and the district administration can liaison with Forest Dept. to support any plantation campaign if required. Mr. Anuj Kumar (Director, DRDA) was the guest of honour for the event and he supported for plantation as a remedy to check our environment passing through all types of pollution.

Earlier Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) welcomed the guests and briefed about Holistic Rural Development Programme in 15 villages of Koderma district. He said that with support of HDFC Bank, NBJK has constructed ponds, initiated for solar powered water towers-street lamps-home lights and innovative drip irrigation in target villages. We run remedial coaching centres for school children, promote women SHGs, plantation, organize health camps and address drinking water problem as an inclusive intervention for villages, he explained. Mr. Pawan Lal Gupta (Programme Manager, NBJK), Mrs. Sudha Devi, Mrs. Uma Devi (Community Mobilizers), Mr. Bhola Yadav (Veer Jharkhand Sewa Manch, Koderma), Mr. Ganesh Yadav, Mr. Subodh Kumar, Md. Mohsin Raza (RCC Teachers) were other speakers on this occasion.

Around 150 people have participated in World Environment fortnight convention and 75 of them got papaya plants to grow.  Mr. Shankar Rana has conducted the dais; Mr. Pawan Lal Gupta delivered vote of thanks and Mr. Krishna Raut (Asst. Prog. Manager) & other staffs have worked hard to organize the event gracefully.
