11 May 2021, Bahera (Chauparan), Hazaribag: Mr. Jayant Sinha (Hon. MP-Hazaribag) has inaugurated Covid Care Center online at NBJK run Loknayak Jai Prakash Eye Hospital.

This 30 bedded CC Center is situated on hospital’s 3rd floor constructed with support from Aditya Birla Capital. The Center has been established and completed in record time under able guidance of the honorable Member of Parliament from Hazaribag. Currently 5 oxygen supported beds are functional here with chances to add 20 such beds soon. Mr. Sinha assured to initiate two more CCCs at Hazaribag and a nearby block with capacity of 50 oxygen supported beds.

On this occasion Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has expected for full co-operation from people & their representatives and said that NBJK is trying to mobilize fund to provide free of cost treatment for COVID-19 suffering poor laborers.

NBJK Launches Project #Uday @PlanIndiaNGO @Plan_India

16 April 2021, Churchu (Hazaribag): Under Child Centered Community Development Program with support of Plan India, NBJK has launched project Uday today.

Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) inaugurated this in a simple ceremony organized as per COVID guidelines. He explained about the objectives of the project which provides a well-timed monetary support of Rs. 5,000 through demand draft to the families of sponsored children.

The money will go to the bank account of child’s mother with coverage of 1910 families across 21 villages in Churchu block.

Support Book & Holi Get-Together for Girl Students @actionvillageindia @ActionVillageIn

27 March 2021, Banaha (Hazaribag): Under the program of Girls’ Education Sponsorship with support of Action Village India-UK, support books have been provided to 16 girl students of class X at Saraswati Bal Uchch Vidyalaya, Banaha as they will appear in board examination in coming months.

Here total 75 girls from class VI-X are being catered through Stri Shakti, a partner organization of NBJK & AVI. Also the girls have enjoyed a colorful Holi Get-Together in the school premises and had special dishes on the occasion. Mr. Sarju Gope (head teacher), Mr. Dilip Kesri, Mr. Pyare Lal, Mr. Vinod Kumar and Mr. Ajay Kumar (all teachers) have monitored the event participated by Ms Niki Soren, Mr. Abhay Kumar (both from NBJK), Mr. Chandan Kumar (Stri Shakti) and some parents also.

This will boost up the morale of our girl children and they went through a different experience of school life also, the head teacher said.

Sightsavers @SightsaversIN @SightsaversIndia & NBJK Launches Rural Eye Health Program

26 March 2021, Hazaribagh: Under joint auspices of Sightsavers & NBJK, “Netra Vasant”a rural eye health program has been launched in Hazaribag. Dr. Marshal Aind (Director-Services, NPCBVI & Director-SBCS) was the chief guest of this inaugural ceremony. He valued SHGs as quite instrumental for access to eye care services in rural areas and stressed upon coordination between DBCS & Sightsavers-NBJK.

Mr. Sudipto Mohanti (Regional Director, Sightsavers) regarded rural eye health program as vital for common people and asked for collective effort. Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal (civil Surgeon, Hazaribagh) has assured for all possible support to Netra Vasant and requested Sightsavers to make some essential apparatuses available for district hospital. NBJK Secretary Mr. Satish Girija said that all of us face eye problems and it is our responsibility to make the service reachable for every family in villages. There should be a good quality Vision Centre at block level, he suggested. Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) said about need of inclusive up gradation of govt. health centers from eye care view point.

23 March 2021, Barhi (Hazaribag): Under the programme of Childline 1098 with support of Childline India Foundation-Mumbai, NBJK run Childline Sub-Centre, Chauparan has organized a meeting of Block Level Child Protection Committee-cum-Block Level Childline Advisory Council at the auditorium of Barhi block headquarters. The meeting was inaugurated by Mrs. Aruna Kumari (BDO, Barhi), Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) and other govt. officers in presence of around 100 Anganbadi workers.

Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma has briefed about child rights protection program being implemented at district level and said about the initiative by Childline 1098 to protect child rights. He appealed to call 1098 if one finds any sick, shelterless, exploited or harassed child. Childline works to reinstate children’s rights for survival, development, protection & participation, he said. Also Mrs. Sujata Kumari (CDPO, Barhi), Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma (BEEO, Barhi), Child Welfare Police Officer-Barhi and others have discussed upon the issue of child rights.

Mr. Narayan Rajak (Team Member, Childline Sub-Centre, Chauparan) informed the Anganbadi workers about formation and responsibilities of village level child protection committees. Mrs. Maya Mishra (Team Member) has anchored the dais and vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Virendra Sinha (Team Leader). Sub-committee Meeting of #FamilyCounselingCenter @MinistryWCD

20 March 2021, Hazaribag: NBJK run Family Counseling Center (FCC) with support of Central Social Welfare Board-New Delhi & Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board-Ranchi has called its Sub-committee meeting at Women Police Station premises.

Mrs. Purnima Kumari (SI-WPS) has presided over the event and said that mobile phone plays villainous role to create mistrust between wife-husband these days, long hours on mobile phone makes one suspicious about life partner’s extra-marital relation and family atmosphere becomes painful gradually. Other members of Sub-committee are of the view that financial crisis too contributes to stress within families.

In the meeting, Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counselor, FCC) has placed quarterly report of FCC before the members and said that total 32 cases of family disputes have been registered during January-March 2021. She explained that there were cases of violence caused by alcoholism (9), wife-husband conflict (7), dispute with son & daughter-in-law (3), mental-physical torture (6), dowry (1), land dispute (1), second marriage (1) and other disputes (4). Out of these, 22 cases have been resolved and we are trying to settle pending cases, Mrs. Gupta has informed.

There were other members of Sub-committee like Mrs. Sheela Kumari (Secretary, Stri Shakti), Mrs. Usha Bahen (Anupam Mahila Chetna Samiti), Mr. Tulsi Dubey (Senior Advocate), Mr. Umesh Kumar, Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Counselor, FCC) have participated in the meeting along with Ms Manjusha Priya & Ms Masuhab, the law students from Vinoba Bhawe University-Hazaribag associated with FCC as interns for a short period.

“JP Movement 1974 Hazaribag” Book Launched by Mr. Girija Satish

18 March 2021, Hazaribag: Mr. Girija Satish (President-NBJK & National Lok Samiti) has launched a book upon JP Movement in Hazaribag during 1974 on 47th anniversary of the movement. The book titled as “J. P. Andolan 1974 Hazaribag” has been edited by Messrs Gautam Sagar Rana (Ex-MLA), Prabhat Ranjan, Sanjay Sharan, Harish Shrivastav & Santosh Satyarthi jointly and it’s launching ceremony held under the auspices of Loknayak Pustak Lokarpan Samiti-Hazaribag.

Many living agitators of that time as well as family members of such departed souls have participated in the event and get honored with certificates, memento & shawl on this occasion. The program took place at Jain Dharmashala (Bara Bazar) and chaired by Mr. Gautam Sagar Rana. The book provides an authentic detail of the activities by students in the movement at Hazaribag, reflects a saga of youths’ contribution to systemic change and will be helpful to researchers of new generation, Mr. Rana pointed out. Mr. Harish Shrivastav anchored the dais and said that Hazaribag has played an important role in the student movement of 1974 with collective leadership, continuous activities and tremendous combativeness. Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (Advocate) who was quite active for bail to the agitators then has stated that disagreement is like oxygen for democracy and national flag hoisting by a rikshawala Mr. Manki Mahto on Independence Day of that year was a better expression of public sentiments. Mr. Akhlaque Ahmad (Ex-MLA) joined the program as a special invitee and motivated the audience with his poems.

Mr. Dina Gope, Mr. Abhijit Sen, Mr. Satyendra Sinha, Mr. Ashok Yadav, Dr. Zafrullah Sadique, Prof. Surendra Sinha have shared their experiences of the movement and explained about the events of opposing government’s dictatorship by youths, their family members and specially the women in a small place like Hazaribag. Also the close relatives of prominent agitators like late Ashok Chaurasia, late Upendra Das (Ex-MLA), late Nehru Yadav, late Narendra Jain have remembered about that protest.

While launching the book, Mr. Girija Satish has appreciated the contributors & editors for preserving memoirs of ’74 movement in shape of a book. He talked about JP’s concept of Total Revolution, asked for the movement related event every year and appealed to pay attention upon construction of JP Memorial site. At last Mr. Santosh Satyarthi has thanked the participants, saluted deceased friends and all have observed two minutes silence in their memory.

Convention upon #FreedomFromIntoxicants @JBFMumbai

15 March 2021, Ranchi: Today a convention upon Freedom from Intoxicants held at NBJK-Ranchi under joint auspices of Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, Jagriti Socio Economic Empowerment Services and Ranchi District Lok Samiti.

Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti) was the keynote speaker who said that the very issue of liquor or other intoxicants is related to development and execution of a strict liquor prohibition law will facilitate development in our family, society and state obviously. After liquor ban in Bihar, the number of foreigner tourists has been increased there and in western countries also one can’t drive vehicles after taking alcohol, but this ruined their social institutions like family or marriage. We don’t want such luxurious tendency in India and must reject liquor to ensure harmony around with knowledge of the art of living, Mr. Girija Saish pointed out. He suggested the people to look into the lives of great persons from different faiths, to become morally strong and beware of rumors like strength from liquor. The people, who take liquor may be rich, may be leaders or actors but they couldn’t be our ideal, he declared and invoked women audience to support the campaign. Mr. Girija Satish asked Jharkhand Govt. for anti-liquor law to check the evils like rape, torture, superstition, accident and spoiling of young generation.

From women SHGs, Mrs. Sunita Shrivastava (President, Women SHG) has thrown light over the loss by intoxicants, Mrs. Vinita Bhagat said about lost respect of drunkards, Mrs. Meena Devi stressed upon proper drafting as well as execution of any such law while Mrs. Supriya Singh was concerned about social acceptance of liquor. Ms Sonalika (Advocate) said about young girls as victims of addiction and about need of values added education system.

On this occasion, Mr. Sachchidanand (General Secretary, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) discussed about people’s support on the issue and expected for legal initiative from the state government. Mr. Shailendra Mishra (Ex-president, Ranchi District Lok Samiti) has presided the program and mentioned about three villages near Ormanjhi where villagers have boycotted liquor and won awards too.     Mr. Akhtar Hussain (Social Worker) has appreciated women’s resistance to liquor in different districts of Jharkhand. Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, JSLS) anchored the proceeding, talked about Lok Samiti’s stand against intoxicants and got people’s consent over a memorandum to the Chief Minister. The convention was concluded with vote of thanks from Md. Dilashad Azmal (JSEES).

#CommunityJournalism Training for School Girls @actionvillageindia @ActionVillageIn

08-10 March 2021, Deokuli (Ichak), Hazaribag: Under the program of Girls Education & Coaching Centers with support of Action Village India-UK, NBJK has organized 3 days training upon short documentary film making for 75 girl children of Birsa Public School, Deokuli.

They availed theory & practical exercises like identification of the problems in their villages, selection of one-liners for social issues, searching relevant case studies and possible way out. The girls have recognized various stories like malpractices of dowry, witch-hunt & other superstitions, bad condition of road, social discrimination, lack of high schools in the area, poor sanitation and many more. Ms Niki Soren (Program Coordinator) said about the objective to empower school girls with a different perception for a better citizenry.

As the resource persons Mr. Anand Hembrom, Mrs. Shanti Kumari and Mr. Abhay Kumar have contributed to the event. Same training will be provided to 75 girls of Saraswati Baal Uchch Vidyalay, Banha (Hazaribag) on 12-14 March, to 30 girls from 4 Govt. schools at Birhu-Simariya (Chatra district) on 15-17 March and to 30 girl students at Tetri village near Ranchi during 19-21 March.

NBJK Celebrates International Women’s Day @SBIFoundationIndia @SBI_FOUNDATION

08 March 2021, Chakai (Jamui, Bihar): Under joint auspices of SBI Foundation & NBJK, Women Farmers’ Convention has been organized at Heth Chakai village under #SBIGramSeva program.

The convention was chaired by Mrs. Pinki Devi (Member-Panchayat Samiti, Ramchandradih Panchayat) and Mr. Shivji Singh (General Secretary, Bihar State Lok Samiti) attended the event as chief guest. He appreciated increasing participation by women in executive, judiciary, journalism, job market, business etc and called it an achievement of women’s empowerment. Our rural women associated with agriculture face problems to run their families and suffering as they lack proper education, health, livelihood and safety, he pointed out and demanded for a nationwide liquor prohibition law.

On this occasion, Mr. Manoj Prasad Singh (Branch Manager, SBI-Chakai) assured for loan to women if they want to initiate or strengthen their own business/livelihood activities. Also he provided loan to many such women on the spot and many others have applied for such financial support.
