31 March 2022, Hazaribagh: Under Young India project with support of UTI Mutual Fund, NBJK run Mission Rozgar Training Center, Hazaribagh has ensured placement for 60 out of total 120 pass out trainees of first batch from employable courses of Basic Computer Applications, General Duty/Nursing Assistance, Beautician-Menhdi-Bridal Makeup and Tailoring & Embroidery.
Mr. Mrityunjay (MRTC Placement Officer) informed that many local enterprises like Arogyam Hospital, Annapurna Cold Storage, Shri Hospital & Research Center, Khandelwal Food Mart, Ganpati Mart, Suzuki Showroom, Neeti Enterprise and so on have recruited our students as computer operator, accountant, receptionist, sales person etc as well as expressed satisfaction over their performance. Rest of them will get either placement or will be linked with self-employment initiatives soon, he added.
Admission process for second batch has been started already and duration of each well-crafted short course is 3 months with fee of Rs. 600. Maximum number of enrollment is restricted up to 30 trainees per course.
Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has conveyed his best wishes to the placed youths and assured for help if they feel any problem at workplace.
28 March 2022, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribagh): The alumni of NBJK run & CBSE affiliated Surekha Prakashbhai Public School, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribagh) are performing well career wise. More importantly they never forget their school. Recently one Manish Kumar Mishra, son of Mrs. Savita Devi & Mr. Manoj Mishra from village-Bahera, Chauparan has joined as an officer with Indian Air Force and got posting at Hyderabad.
When Manish came to home, he preferred to touch feet of his teachers for their blessings. Ms. Reena Pandey (Principal, SPPS) and other teachers have blessed the student, offered sweets to him as a symbol of affection and showered their best wishes for his bright future. Also Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) and Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) have appreciated his success and wished him good luck!
Ms. Reena Pandey remembers Manish as an intelligent student who studied at SPPS from class I to X, very lively in co-curricular activities and passed 10th class board examination in the year 2016 with good marks.
For further study Manish went to Ranchi and started preparation for competitive examinations. After clicking Air Force service, he gone through 14 months rigorous training at Chennai and now got final recruitment as an officer.
Manish says about his passion for patriotism as a soldier right from childhood and thanks SPPS for such grooming of that dream! Now a reality!!
26 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): Any Government or organization can’t do all works because of innumerable problems in our vast country and this very reason persists behind NBJK’s initiative to promote good & thoughtful civil society organizations, Mr. Girija Satish opined while addressing to chief functionaries of CSOs as participants of 3 days workshop upon organizational development called by NBJK under the program of Capacitating Social Activists … with support of Bread for the World.
During inaugural session commenced after “NBJK : 50 Years” film show, Mr. Girija Satish stressed upon rectifications in existing FCR Act and said about need of activities with mutual co-ordination on basis of ideology. He explained casteism, communalism, superstition, drug addiction along with various social evils as hindrances for socio-economic development and appealed the organizations to make people aware over such issues so that an inclusive society with scientific approach can be developed. Mr. Girija Satish has supported liquor prohibition law and said that our Governments must consider the demand of a strict anti-liquor law across Jharkhand & India, raised by Lok Samiti with backing from NBJK as well as other CSOs.
On this occasion, Mr. Philman Baxla (Secretary, Lok Prerna Kendra, Chatra) has remembered his 36 years old association with NBJK like a quality experience, said about beginning of his social life as a volunteer of Lok Samiti and currently executes projects in several blocks of Chatra district with support of many national-international donor agencies. Mr. Suresh Shakti (Secretary, Vanvasi Vikas Ashram, Giridih) praised NBJK for empowering of small organizations that made development works accessible to a large population. Mr. Awdhesh Chandra, an ex-worker of NBJK, now who heads Chhotanagpur Vikas Kendra a CSO active in Barkattha block of Hazaribagh district, said about acute backwardness in villages during some decades before when relevant interventions around community awareness, social harmony, irrigation facility etc by NBJK-Lok Samiti resulted as positive changes and we could learn a lot about social work. Also other persons have expressed their views.
Mr. Adhin Mahto (Resource Person) has proceeded the discussion by gathering information upon vision, sustainability plan, policy, monitoring system, MIS-documentation, resource availability, target group and so on from the organizations.
The chief functionaries of 22 CSOs from 11 districts of Jharkhand-Bihar have participated in workshop. Mr. Rajeev Singh (Project Manager, NBJK) and Mr. Shankar Rana (Asst. PM) have contributed in organizing the event.
25 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): In closing ceremony of three days Entrepreneurship Sharing workshop held under NBJK run Small Group Support project with support of Bread for the World, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) said that without participation of women it’s impractical to imagine about socio-economic development in shifting circumstances.
He was addressing entrepreneurs and called for promotion of women in the field of enterprises & business so that they can play active role to uplift their families or society. NBJK president urged people associated with different income generation activities for sharing of the changes took place in their live in terms of income, empowerment, capacity building, socialization, collective development and about future planning with feedback for program enrichment as well as durable linkage with the organization.
On this occasion, Mrs. Mehrunnisha Khatoon (Bada Bazar, Hazaribagh), an NBJK beneficiary since last seven years has shared about her struggle right from the point when she decided to be a hawker of bangles & other makeup items for women and used to visit door to door but now she runs a small shop of the same items near her place. She said that there are so many things like women SHG, easy microcredit, collective saving, emergency support, awareness etc those enabled an illiterate woman like me to provide college education for my daughters even.
During the workshop many women told their experiences of change they brought through own hard work along with morale boost up and little financial support from NBJK. Mr. Adhin Mahto (Resource Person) informed that most of the participants are women among these small entrepreneurs and they have contributed to socio-economic improvement coupled with self-reliance at micro level.
There were 65 women-men entrepreneurs from the blocks like Sadar, Daroo, Katkamdag, Katkamsandi, Ichak of Hazaribagh, Hunterganj of Chatra, Mandar and chanho of Ranchi districts. They are linked with projects like women SHGs, tailoring training, carers groups and support to social activists by NBJK. Mr. Rajeev Singh and Mr. Shankar Rana looked after the arrangement.
23 March 2022, Patjori (Chakai-Jamui, Bihar): As an empowering activity for rural youth, SBI Foundation supported and NBJK run SBI Gram Seva project has organized a cricket tournament at Patjori school ground.
The players from five operational villages i.e. Heth Chakai, Patjori, Garahi, Chhachhudih, Mangtadih have participated in this contest. Final match was played between teams of Heth Chakai and Patjori villages in which Heth Chakai cricket team won comfortably. Mr. Budho Rajak (Mukhiya, Ramchandradih panchayat) and Mr. S. K. Yajal (Project Manager, NBJK-SBIGS) have handed over the trophy to winner team jointly.
Mr. Yajal said that such event makes youth aware, draws their attraction for sports and helps to select quality players those can represent their villages at higher levels too. Mr. Sahil Ansari, Mr. Dhirendra Kumar Dheeraj and many others were present during cricket tournament.
23 March 2022, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribagh): World Optometry Day was celebrated at LNJP Eye Hospital where eye hospital run Paramedical Institute is also situated and youth study two years diploma course of Ophthalmic Assistant.
The day has been commemorated with much enthusiasm by the students, doctors and staff. They cut a cake on the occasion, greeted each other and expressed their views.
Dr. Alok said that our eyes are like a most precious gift from God. Mr. Santosh K. Puri (Hospital Admin) considered all deserted without healthy eyes. We enjoy nature’s beauty with our eyes and become independent to do our daily works, Dr. (Ms.) Vishakha added.
Also Mr. Karuna Nidhi and Mr. Amber Nidhi were present in the function. All have encouraged paramedical students and conveyed best wishes to them.
World Optometry Day became more significant when the doctors as well as the students took oath to be honest towards their profession and to serve people sincerely.
23 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): Mrs. Mamta Kumari, a beneficiary selected and trained under Usha SIlai School program by NBJK with support of Usha International Limited, has received second sewing machine to enrich her Silai School she runs at her home.
Today Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) handed over a new sewing machine to Mrs. Mamta Kumari at NBJK coordination office and wished her all success.
Mrs. Mamta (26 years) belongs to village-Bodhiya, block-Tatijhariya and district-Hazaribagh. Her husband Mr. Rajesh Rana is a small farmer-cum-carpenter. The couple has two kids as a daughter (5 years) and a son (3 years). Mamta’s daughter goes to a local English medium school.
In February 2021, she has been picked by NBJK staff in her remote village as a potential trainee for 7 days residential Adopt Silai School Teachers Training activity held under the program. Before that she was known to a little about stitching by machine but the training enabled her to be proficient on sewing machine and dexterous with garments making. Also she went to know about minor repairs if the machine breaks down.
After successful completion of training, Mamta got a new sewing machine from UIL as per program’s mandate and started an Usha Silai School. Soon some neighborhood girls have joined her school to learn tailoring. She initiated garments making for village women and the school earned a good reputation gradually.
Within the period of last one year, Mamta has trained 15 girls on tailoring, made a number of different garments for women customers and currently her monthly income dwells in between Rs. 7,000-9,000 as an average.
With help of this second sewing machine, I can enhance volume of my work as well as earnings, she says.
21 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): Under the program of Capacitating Social Activists … by NBJK with support of Breaad for the World, 3 days workshop upon “Agriculture Work Experiences with Farmers” began today.
In his opening address, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) said that during its 50 years journey of Rural Development works, NBJK put efforts to prioritize agriculture and tried to enhance income of farmers with irrigation facilities and advanced farming inputs. Now-a-days people don’t take cultivation seriously, migrate to big cities for livelihood as they are doubtful about proper income despite hard labour and to change this situation we must perceive agriculture as a business, he stated. He touched various topics like planning, costing, sale, income, weather, crops, supporting livelihoods etc and told that only paddy crop to eat rice all year round can’t fulfill the needs like nutritious food, education to children, health related expenditures and we should pay attention to allied activities like animal husbandry, nursery and making of organic compost, sauce, pickle and so on too. Mr. Girija Satish has discussed about usefulness of innovations in agriculture, crop insurance, Ayushman Bharat for farmers also.
During the workshop, Mrs. Sharda Devi of village-Baalee (Churchu) has shared her experience of profit making farming when she could draw income of Rs. 7,000 by growing potato, wheat, onion, pea and green vegetables with financial support of Rs. 3,500 from Stri Shakti, Hazaribagh. Also Mr. Mohan Yadav of the same village shared about profitable agriculture with timely facilitation he availed.
About 70 men-women farmers associated with Stri Shakti-Hazaribagh, NBJK-Khunti, RJSS-Koderma, Gram Kalyan-Giridih, Lok Prerna Kendra-Simariya (Chatra), Lok Utthan Kendra-Katkamsandi (Hazaribagh) are participating in this workshop. They are being promoted by these small organizations and will attempt for better output through mutual experience sharing.

16 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): 9 days residential Usha Swavalamban Silai School Teachers Training has ended on the day. This was organized with support of SIDBI & Usha International Ltd. for 50 women from villages in Tatijhariya, Ichak and Churchu blocks of Hazaribagh district.
During closing ceremony, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) awarded the trainees with certificate on the occasion and conveyed them his best wishes. He said that economic self-reliance of women is a vital part of their empowerment and our societal growth. Aftet opening of Usha Swavalamban Silai School at their places, the trainee women are supposed to earn substantially through teaching of quality tailoring skill, repair of sewing machines and by garments making, he said. Mr. Girija Satish appealed the participants to follow scientific approach in daily life and to oppose superstition, liquor as well as other social evils prevailing in name of custom.
Before this Mr. Felix Tirkey (Program Coordinator, UIL) welcomed Mr. Girija Satish and described briefly about 50 years long journey of NBJK in the field of rural development. He invited Mr. Girija Satish to see the sample works displayed by the trainees and got appreciation for all. Mr. Tirkey said that there are more than 28000 Usha Silai Schools across India running successfully and congratulated the women as being proud members of this larger family now.
After completion of their training, each trainee has received a new sewing machine with stitching kit, guidebook and signboard of Usha Swavalamban Silai School. Mrs. Mamta Devi, Mrs. Pammi Devi, Mrs. Renu Devi, Mr. Vimal Kumar (all Trainers), Mr. Ankit Anurag (Program Manager, NBJK), Mr. Shailesh Kumar, Mr. Bhuvneshwar Prasad (both Program Associates, NBJK) were present in the function.
16 March 2022, Chakai (Jamui, Bihar): As an activity of NBJK run SBI Gram Seva project with support of SBI Foundation, 15 electric motor pump sets as each with a board & 2 kg wire have been distributed among 15 farmers of five villages namely Heth Chakai, Patjori, Chhachhudih, Mangtadih and Garahi.
One motor pump set will be utilized by a group of 10 farmers and total 150 farmers are going to be benefitted by the initiative for irrigation purpose.
During a simple observance held at NBJK Chakai office on 16 March 2022, Chakai Block Agriculture Officer Mr. Ashok Kumar and Block Agriculture Advisor Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Ravi handed over the motor pump sets, boards & wire to farmers.
Also other resource persons like Mr. Lalllan Kumar Rai, Mr. Shudhir Kumar, Mr. Bhagwan Rai, Mr. Shyam Singh Tomar and media persons were present on the occasion. Mr. S. K. Yajal (Manager, NBJK-SBIGS Project) has coordinated the event.
