07 February 2024, Gaya: Lok Samiti, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Vahini, and Majdoor Kisan Samiti organized a historic demonstration for justice and empowerment!
On 6th February, around 2,500 villagers united from various blocks of Gaya district to demand their rights and voice their concerns. Led by the spirit of Loknayak JP, we marched from Gandhi Maidan to the District Collector’s office, presenting a people’s memorandum to the Governor of Bihar.
Our demands are clear and urgent:
The ADM (law & order) has assured us of forwarding our demands to the Governor and pledged action on issues within the district’s jurisdiction.
Back at Gandhi Maidan, our leaders like Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Convenor, Lok Samiti), Mrs. Putul Kumari (President, Gaya Jila Lok Samiti), Mr. Bishundhari Suman (District Co-ordinator, Majdoor Kisan Samiti), Dr. Mundrika Prasad Nayak, Mr. Ramlakhan Bhagat, Mr. Baleshwar Manjhi, Mr. Kavindra Prasad Singh, Mr. Nathul Paswan, Mr. Jagdev Singh, and Mrs. Meera Devi have addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of our memorandum and the government’s responsibility towards its citizens’ welfare. Later they met Mr. Jitan Ram Manjhi (Minister, Govt. of Bihar) who supported the demands.

03 February 2024, Deoghar: In the month of January 2024, NBJK run Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar has organized 32 Eye Screening Camps in the rural areas of Giridih, Deoghar and Jamui districts. The eye hospital has covered villages of Jamua, Rajdhanwar, Birni, Bengabad, Giridih Sadar, Devipur, Deoghar Sadar, Sono and Khaira blocks of these districts of Jharkhand-Bihar.
These screening camps aim to eradicate avoidable blindness and offer Cataract surgery free of cost at the base hospital. This outreach drive has ensured 585 OPD with detection of 313 cases of Cataract, 29 cases of Pterigium and 91 cases of Refractive Error. 55 patients were served with medicines while 42 have been referred to nearest Vision Centers attached with VRBEH.
NBJK thanks Care Today, Seva and Sightsavers India for sponsoring such an important campaign to restore eyesight of poor people living in remote areas. With support of these agencies, the hospital arranges transportation, food, stay, surgery, medicines & follow up to all Cataract patients.

02 February 2024, Chanho (Ranchi): Under HDFC Bank supported Holistic Rural Development Program by NBJK in Chanho block of Ranchi district, a participatory initiative for water conservation is going on vigorously.
The villagers in fifteen villages of four panchayats have started various activities like drainage cleanliness, boribandh construction, road repair, small pond digging etc by donating their labour together. Recently at Lepsar village, the villagers have prepared a micro plan to save water. The village women cleaned drains and used the garbage in road repairing. Likewise in Madhukam village, the inhabitants have repaired road inside the village and decided to do such beatification works periodically.
On this occasion, the Mukhiya Mrs. Punam Orain stated that this is our way to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, who talked about self-reliance of villages time and again. Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta (Assistant Program Manager, NBJK) said that water shortage is a big problem for farmers; we are making villagers aware of the issue and try to address it locally with support of Goonj, a noted NGO. Also he met Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, the Circle Officer of Chanho block and briefed him about the goings-on across the villages under NBJK run Holistic Rural Development program.
Mr. Priyanshu Kumar (APM-NBJK) and many villagers like Mrs. Punita Devi, Mrs. Manju Devi, Mr. Sandeep Oraon (Deputy Mukhia), Mr. Ramchandra Munda (Member, Village Development Committee), Mr. Hari Munda (Social Worker) are mobilizing the people to make their villages water reliant.

30 January 2024, Patna: On the occasion of the martyrdom day of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a prayer meeting and mass fast was organized in front of the Gandhi statue at Gandhi Maidan on behalf of Lok Samiti, a non-political mass organization founded by Loknayak Jayprakash.National President of Lok Samiti, Mr. Girija Satish was presiding over this program organized by Bihar Pradesh Lok Samiti. He said that Bapu’s life is a message itself in which we see a treasure of all the good things including truth-non-violence, equality of all religions, social harmony, women empowerment, nature conservation, village self-rule, self-employment, trusteeship etc. and by following the path shown by him, it will be good for the country. Mr. Girija said that Gandhiji was a great man who lived his principles by sticking to the truth, he had the courage to accept his mistakes, truth was his shield and his God.
National Convenor of Lok Samiti, Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad said that today in the country’s environment of ethnic-religious frenzy, violence, crime, unemployment, migration, suicide of farmers, we have only the support of Gandhi’s thoughts and we try to follow his path. Mr. Shivji Singh, who was conducting the program, said that Mahatma Gandhi belonged to everyone, he was well aware of the conditions of the country and society and wanted us to rise above the evils and build a good society.
About 50 officials of Lok Samiti from various districts of Bihar like Patna, Nalanda, Rohtas, Kaimur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Chhapra, Samastipur etc., who participated in the prayer meeting and mass fast, Shri Vinod Sharma (Provincial Treasurer), Er. Mahendra Yadav, Rahul, Umashankar Singh, Suresh Prasad, Ashutosh Singh, Vicky Kumar, Philkus, Dr. Hemant, Mahendra Tiwari, Nigahban Ahmed Khan, Anil Jha, Satyendra Singh, Chandrabhushan (State Seretary), Meena Devi, Anju Kumari, Anita Sharan, Julie Kumari, Ranjit Paswan, Roshan Singh etc. also shared their views. 29 January 2024, Hazaribagh: SBI Life supported and NBJK run Mission Rozgar Training Center, Hazaribagh has organized a Job Fair. Many employers have been invited in this event to provide jobs for the trainees those completed their courses in the trades of Basic Computer Applications, General Duty Attendant, Beautician and Tailoring.
The Job Fair was attended by 17 employer companies or enterprises including Mr. Ritesh Kumar Prasad (Divisional Manager, SBI Life), Mr. Aseem Sinha (Manager, Hyundai Motor India Show Room), Mr. Utkarsh Kumar (Bulwark Software Research Pvt. Ltd.), Mrs. Rani Prajapati (Aditya Birla Finance Ltd.) and representatives from Kshitij Hospital, Bajaj Allianz, Midland Financial Services Ltd., S. S. Beauty Parlor, Glamour Salon, Altos India Pvt. Ltd., Care Children Hospital etc.
They offered job letters to 16 youths on the spot and processing is going on to appoint 24 more candidates by these employers. NBJK Secretary Mr. Satish Girija met all the employers personally, briefed them about salient features of the courses at Mission Rozgar Training Center and assured that our trained youths will fulfill their work criteria successfully.
MRTC officials like Mr. Rupesh Mallick (Center Manager), Mr. Mrityunjay Jha (Placement Officer), Mr. Suresh Ravidas (Mobilizer) and faculty members have contributed to make this event successful.
26 January 2024, Hazaribagh: NBJK has celebrated 75th Republic Day of the nation and its president Mr. Girija Satish hoisted tricolor national flag at Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh) based coordination office.
In his brief address, he praised Indian constitution for its inclusive nature, thanked founding fathers and freedom fighters for their struggle to make India as an independent, sovereign nation. Mr. Girija Satish has questioned to the politics of casteism, communalism and appeasement. He stressed over developmental and progressive politics to move India forward. NBJK President has termed a government like any double edged sword that can be constructive as well as devastative. He expressed a deep concern over the wars in different parts of the world and severe casualties of civilians. He remembered Mahatma Gandhi for his path of peace to make big changes, his concept of Gram Swarajya and appealed all to follow Gandhian way to resolve conflicts. On the occasion of Republic Day, Mr. Girija Satish has conveyed his best wishes to all and appealed to boost fraternity in society.
Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) has called to exercise rights for social harmony to development. Mr. Sudhir Upadhyay (Program Manager, NBJK) has mentioned about directive principles in Indian constitution as the guidelines for any government while Mr. Pravesh Singh (Assistant Finance Manager, NBJK) focused upon achievements of NBJK, especially in the field of eye care for all. There were many staffs, villagers and children present in the flag hoisting ceremony and they received sweets distributed by NBJK office.
In another event held at NBJK run Komal Pujan Public School-Lord Buddha Home for Children, Silaunja (Bodhgaya), Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) was the chief guest of the Republic Day ceremony. The Day has been celebrated with much vigor at all branch offices, eye hospitals and schools scattered in different parts of Jharkhand & Bihar.
25 January 2024, Chakai (Jamui, Bihar): Under SBI Gram Saksham project by NBJK with support of SBI Foundation, a farmers training program was organized on 23rd January at Kashjor village of Chakai block under Jamui district in Bihar. Total 55 farmers from three villages like Sone, Baljori and Kashjor have participated in this training.
Mr. Dev Narayan Singh was the resource person for this training. He is a progressive farmer of repute in this region and a “Krishi Bhushan” awardee by the government. During the training, Mr. Singh has discussed about scientific farming methods for different crops. Also he cleared various doubts from the farmers regarding cultivation process, safety of the crops and high yield. He described about dry farming in underutilized barren land for income enhancement.
Mr. S. K. Yajal (Project Manager, SBI Gram Saksham) has informed that soon we will arrange three more training camps in Chakai and Deoghar blocks within the month of January.
NBJK runs SBI Gram Saksham project in 20 villages of Chakai and Deoghar blocks of Jamui as well as Deoghar districts in Bihar and Jharkhand. It’s an innovative and participatory intervention with farmers to make villages self-sustainable through water conservation initiatives, farm equipments support, leverage on the government/institutional schemes, improvement in agriculture productivity and farmers’ income.
22 January 2024, Hazaribagh: After the completion of the training, certificates were distributed among 20 disabled youths who received skill development training from Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra under the aegis of Ujjivan Small Gramin Bank and Cheshire Disability Trust, Bangalore, out of which 14 have got employment. The chief guest of the function held on 20th January at NBJK’ Hazaribag Office, was Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK).
Addressing the disabled youth and their parents, he said that the role of the parents is very important in the empowerment of the disabled, who strengthen them mentally and inspire them to take advantage of the opportunities for self-reliance. Giving brief information about the programs run by NBJK, he said that the organization had started working with the disabled since last two decades and so far in Jharkhand-Bihar, it facilitated more than 70 thousand Persons with Disabilities by their identification and linked them with entitlements as well as community-based rehabilitation. Mr. Abhinav praised the disabled youth who received skill development training from NBJK, wished them all the best and appealed to help other disabled people also get enrolled in this training course.
On this occasion, Mr. Ajay Kumar (Training Coordinator) informed that in this first batch, a total of 20 disabled people had received training in the courses of Basic Computer Applications and Nursing Assistant and 14 have been linked with employment in Hazaribagh and surrounding areas. Among these 20 youth (female-09, male-11), 04 were deaf and mute and 16 were with locomotor disability, who received training here during the period from 23 November to 23 December’23 and the present batch includes 30 physically challenged youth trainees. Also faculty members like Ms. Priyadarshini Pradhan, Ms. Komal and Mr. Vishal Kumar were present in the certificate distribution ceremony.
20 January 2024, Patna: NBJK’s “Community Based Inclusive Development & Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities” program, supported by Bajaj Finserv Limited, is making waves in Patna Slums! With 5460 identified Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), we’ve issued 800 Unique Disability Identity Cards and initiated 430 physical verification applications. Our impact extends to mental health care, corrective surgeries, and assistive devices, benefitting 113 individuals.
Vocational training has opened doors, empowering 225 PwDs with skills in Tailoring, Beautician, Computer, Counter Sales, Vegetable Vending, and Egg Selling. Seed Capital support has birthed 14 Self-Help Groups, boosting 280 entrepreneurs. We’ve championed children’s rights, enrolling 29 CwDs at Aanganwadis & 18 at Primary Schools, providing educational materials to 45 CwDs.
Sensitization initiatives reached 450 students, 25 teachers, 75 ward members, and 100 parents. Together, we’re fostering inclusivity and championing the rights of every individual.
