World Environment Day Observed with Focus on Organic Farming and Tree Plantation in Chanho

05 June 2026, Chanho (Ranchi): Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), under the HDFC Bank-supported Parivartan – Focused Rural Development Programme (FRDP), celebrated World Environment Day with the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The programme promoted environmental conservation and sustainable agricultural practices among rural communities.

As part of the observance, 25 fruit-bearing and timber saplings were planted in Farmers’ Field Schools and on farmers’ lands across project villages. Awareness programmes were conducted in Madhukam, Soparam, Karkat and Roll villages, engaging 58 participants, including farmers, PRI representatives, Village Development Committee members, teachers and local leaders.

During the sessions, participants were sensitized on the importance of tree plantation, organic farming, soil health improvement and sustainable agriculture. Discussions focused on environmental challenges affecting rural communities, such as irregular rainfall, declining soil fertility, shrinking green cover and the growing impact of climate change on agriculture and livelihoods.

The FRDP team also carried out a plantation drive at its Chanho office premises, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

At the conclusion of the programme, participants pledged to plant and nurture trees, promote the use of organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides, reduce dependence on chemical inputs, minimize plastic use and spread awareness about environmental conservation in their communities.

Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the programme emphasized that environmental sustainability and climate resilience can only be achieved through collective community action and the adoption of nature-friendly practices.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from community members and stakeholders, translating the spirit of World Environment Day into meaningful local action for a greener and more climate-resilient future.
