World Disability Day observed under SBI Gram Seva project in Jamtara

08 December 2025, Mahishakhura, Jamtara: Under the SBI Gram Seva project implemented by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), World Disability Day was observed on 3rd December at the Gram Seva Kendra located in Mahishakhura village of Bamandiha Panchayat, Fatehpur block, Jamtara district.

The programme was graced by Mrs. Sumi Besra, Head Teacher, Mahishakhura Upgraded Middle School, and Mrs. Radharani Devi, Ward Member, who attended as chief guests and addressed the participants.

On this occasion, awareness was generated among community members regarding various issues related to persons with disabilities and the importance of their inclusion at village level institutions and programmes. The project team facilitated discussions and encouraged active participation of persons with disabilities in community activities.

During the event, a tricycle was handed over to Mr. Kalicharan Pujhar of Turka village, a person with locomotor disability. Another tricycle has been allocated to Mrs. Fulmela Tudu of Karjori village which will be delivered shortly.

A total of 80 participants from five villages covered under the project — Mahishakhura, Turka, Bamandiha, Karjori and Dudhani — took part in the programme.

NBJK and SBI Gram Seva aim to promote inclusive rural development, improve access to services, and ensure participation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of village development.
