03 December 2025, Hazaribagh: The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated at the Open Theatre, Jheel Ground, through a joint initiative of NBJK, Sightsavers India, Divya Jyoti, Janseva Parishad, government departments, and the District Administration, Hazaribagh.
The event featured a series of inclusive sports competitions including tricycle race, crutch race, mobility race for visually impaired participants, and running events for all categories of persons with disabilities. A vibrant cultural programme with dance, music, and speech competitions showcased the talents of participants.
The District Social Welfare Officer, as Chief Guest, emphasized understanding all types of disabilities and ensuring collective support for their holistic development. Sightsavers India representatives highlighted three ongoing district programmes—Rural Eye Health, Social Inclusion, and Inclusive Education—informing that 15 visually impaired students successfully passed Class 10 and 12 examinations this year. Officials from DLSA shared key legal provisions and rights of persons with disabilities.
Guests announced the competition results and appreciated the contributions of Divya Jyoti, disability groups, NBJK staff, and district officials in making the event successful. Stage proceedings were conducted by Shashikant Bharti, with active support from representatives of the Education Department, Ayush Department, and various programme coordinators of Sightsavers India and NBJK.
