07 January 2025, Chakai (Jamui, Bihar): In a significant step towards empowering rural farmers, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), with the support of SBI Foundation, distributed 17 electric motor pump sets to Farmer Groups under the SBI Gram Saksham Project on 6th January 2025. This intervention directly benefits 102 farmers from eight villages: Chhotpar, Diringi, Maharaidih, Pokri, Binjha, Mamtadih, Ghormo, and Heth Chakai. The distributed pump sets aim to address the critical need for irrigation infrastructure, making agricultural activities more sustainable and productive.
The SBI Gram Saksham initiative extends its reach across 15 villages in Chakai block (Jamui district, Bihar) and 15 villages in Deoghar Sadar block (Deoghar district, Jharkhand). Both blocks, despite being in different states, face common challenges such as water scarcity and limited access to agricultural resources. To address these issues, the project has already renovated 100 wells and 24 ponds across these villages, ensuring water availability and creating a foundation for sustainable farming practices.
SBI Gram Saksham, supported by SBI Foundation, is committed to promoting sustainable agriculture by addressing critical issues like water availability and infrastructure gaps. The project’s holistic approach includes improving irrigation facilities, supporting farmer groups, and fostering sustainable practices to enhance agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
The SBI Gram Saksham initiative builds upon the success of SBI Gram Seva, previously implemented by NBJK in 10 villages across Chakai and Deoghar Sadar blocks. Through SBI Gram Seva, NBJK worked collaboratively with villagers to achieve remarkable milestones, including:
These efforts laid the groundwork for transforming rural communities into hubs of development and self-reliance.
The distribution of electric motor pump sets marks another milestone in NBJK’s journey towards rural empowerment. By addressing irrigation challenges and enhancing agricultural resources, the SBI Gram Saksham Project aims to equip farmers with the tools needed for sustainable growth and improved livelihoods.
