20 March 2023, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): The Usha Silai School program by NBJK in collaboration with Usha International Ltd., has begun a nine-day residential training course for rural women under Adopt Silai School Teachers segment. The program aims to provide skill development opportunities and livelihoods to women, ultimately leading to their empowerment.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Rajeev Singh, Senior Program Manager at NBJK, and Mrs. Pammi Devi, a Certified Trainer from Usha Company, who lit the ceremonial lamp. During the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Singh encouraged the women trainees to take advantage of the opportunity to gain mastery in tailoring.
The training to be continued up to March 28th will provide in-depth knowledge about sewing machines, their functions, cutting, stitching, and garment making. At the end, each participant will receive a new sewing machine, guide books for machine and tailoring, a certificate from Usha Company, and a Signage board of Usha Silai School. This will enable them to operate their Silai Schools independently and teach tailoring skills professionally.
The training course is being attended by seven women, including five from Hazaribagh, one from Ramgarh, and one from Chhapra (Bihar).
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr. Felix Tirkey (State Program Officer, UIL), Mr. Gopal Mishra (Service Engineer, UIL), Mr. Ankit Anurag (Project Manager, NBJK), and Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Project Coordinator, NBJK).
This employment-oriented initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of rural women, enabling them to become financially independent and contribute to their families’ and communities’ growth.
