NBJK Intervenes for Holistic Rural Development

04 January 2023, Chanho (Ranchi): HDFC Bank supports NBJK to implement Holistic Rural Development Project covering about 5400 HHs across mostly tribal populated 15 villages from 05 panchayats in Chanho block under Ranchi district of Jharkhand.

This is to ensure all-round sustainable development through innovative practices with water resources, irrigation, agriculture, vegetable growing, fruit plantation, dairy, vocational training, micro enterprises, solar power, sanitation, health support, drinking water, educational infrastructure etc. There are Village Development Committees comprise local people to look after the project.

HRDP has renovated 02 Ponds in two villages, provided irrigation support to paddy & vegetables on 22 acres land of 20 farmers with increased water availability.  The project imparts training and exposure visits to farmers on advance agriculture practices like mulching, drip irrigation, multi-tiered cropping, kitchen garden, bio-compost, livestock development, agriculture tools-techniques, innovative farming & management practices etc.

Through this intervention, growers have been supported to produce cash crops of Ginger & Green Pea to enhance their income. Also it facilitates the villagers to get support from govt. department that resulted as construction of 10 irrigation wells & 13 Drip Systems.

The farmers have started 15 units of Vermicompost, Azolla biofertilizer and use the manure. HRDP makes improved seed available to villagers and encourages dairy with partial financial support & Paravet training. Also an FPO “Chanho Birsa Munda Sangathan Producer Co. Ltd.” has been promoted under the project.

Installation of 150 solar street lights in villages for continuous light at night time by promoting green energy is another hallmark of HRDP. Also it supported infrastructure development for 06 Anganwadi Centres, Science Lab & Library to 04 Govt. Schools and Teaching-Learning Materials to 03 Govt. Schools with nearly 3000 children.
