Community Awareness and Household Eye Screening at Remote Villages

28 May 2022, Giridih-Deoghar: Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation supported & NBJK run Vimla Ramkrishna Eye Hospital, Deoghar is putting hard effort to access people suffering from eye diseases for their treatment.

On 23 May 2022 at Sarath CHC, it provided orientation training for 32 Sahiya (ASHA) Didis over commonly found eye diseases and their preventive as well as curative measures.

Through Vision Centres of Giridih & Bengabad, VREH has mobilized community awareness and household screening at villages like Ghutiya, Chuchundro, Madhwadih, Bhandradih, Sonbad, Keshotand, Herla, Vijiya, Dewatand of Ganey, Bengabad & Giridih Sadar blocks of Giridih district under Netra Vasant-Rural Eye Health Program with support of Sightsavers. Also it conducted eye screening camps at Deoghar town with support of Shankara Eye Foundation.

During such 11 events in this week, the team VREH has ensured total 185 OPD and provided treatment to 96 with refractive errors, 32 with cataract, 5 with pterygium, and 5 with other eye diseases. Including all cataract patients, 5 others have been referred to base hospital for surgery & needful treatment while medicines provided to 15 eye patients on the spot.
