21 March 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): Under the program of Capacitating Social Activists … by NBJK with support of Breaad for the World, 3 days workshop upon “Agriculture Work Experiences with Farmers” began today.
In his opening address, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) said that during its 50 years journey of Rural Development works, NBJK put efforts to prioritize agriculture and tried to enhance income of farmers with irrigation facilities and advanced farming inputs. Now-a-days people don’t take cultivation seriously, migrate to big cities for livelihood as they are doubtful about proper income despite hard labour and to change this situation we must perceive agriculture as a business, he stated. He touched various topics like planning, costing, sale, income, weather, crops, supporting livelihoods etc and told that only paddy crop to eat rice all year round can’t fulfill the needs like nutritious food, education to children, health related expenditures and we should pay attention to allied activities like animal husbandry, nursery and making of organic compost, sauce, pickle and so on too. Mr. Girija Satish has discussed about usefulness of innovations in agriculture, crop insurance, Ayushman Bharat for farmers also.
During the workshop, Mrs. Sharda Devi of village-Baalee (Churchu) has shared her experience of profit making farming when she could draw income of Rs. 7,000 by growing potato, wheat, onion, pea and green vegetables with financial support of Rs. 3,500 from Stri Shakti, Hazaribagh.
