23 September 2021, Ramgarh: Under joint auspices of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra-Hazaribag and Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation-Mumbai, Ramgarh district unit of Lok Samiti has organized a convention upon Liquor Prohibition at local Sahoo Dharmshala/hospice.
As the keynote speaker Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti) said about the need of awareness from villages to state capital and from individuals to groups if we want liquor prohibition in Jharkhand. He justified democratic pressure upon the State Govt. to ban liquor as this is an important issue for common people and said about pre-election written consent in favour of liquor prohibition from the candidates wish to be our representatives. Mr. Girija Satish said that in foreign, people prefer to live individual lives without families but in India keeping view of the importance of family & society, strict ban upon liquor is required. We need a liquor-free society for safety of women-girls, not a single scripture has supported liquor consumption and our constitution has directed the state to restrict alcoholism which is a major hindrance to our socio-economic development, he pointed out. Mr. Girija Satish has supported the ban upon liquor on moral ground initially bu followed by the legal measures later.
On this occasion, Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti) stated that in Bihar, women have made liquor prohibition as people’s concern and pressurized the state government to frame a comprehensive law against this menace. He referred many historical rulers those stopped alcohol intake during their regimes, remembered Mahatma Gandhi for his strong opposition to liquor strongly and appealed the audience to achieve deaddiction at personal level firstly. Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) has briefed about Anti-liquor conventions held in different districts recently, people’s anger and their memorandums to the state government. Mr. Arun Kumar Patel (President, Ramgarh District Lok Samiti) has presided the program and said that we all take a pledge to end this social evil and demand to the state government for such prohibition legally.
Also Mr. Pradeep Poddar, Mr. Shailendra Kumar Mishra (President, Ranchi District Lok Samiti), Mr. Motilal Mahto (RDLS), Mrs. Preeti Diwan (Social Worker), Mrs. Manju Devi (Ex-Mukhiya), Mrs. Subhadra Agrawal, Mr. Mahendra Sinha, Mr. Kundan Kumar have expressed their views during the convention. Mr. Nagendra Prasad anchored the dais while Mr. Ravindra Kumar was responsible for management. The program was participated by around 135 women, youths & social workers who supported for prohibition passionately.
