19 July 2021, Keredari (Hazaribag): Under joint auspices of Sightsavers India @SightsaversIndia @SightsaversIn, NBJK managed LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital-Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribag) with Govt. run Sadar Hospital-Hazaribag, a Vision Center started at Community Health Center of Keredari block under Netra Vasanta-Rural Eye Health program.
Mr. Tapeshwar Saw (Mukhiya, Keredari Gram Panchayat) has inaugurated this Vision Center and welcomed the move to provide eye care services for people of this remote block of Hazaribag district. He said that we will ensure community cooperation to organize screening camps at each panchayat of the block for treatment of the persons suffering from various eye disorders.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Medical Officer, CHC-Keredari) was present on the occasion; he wished every success of this initiative and appealed the villagers to take care of their eye problems without delay.
The vision center will work on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in a week with checkup facility for Refractive Errors, Cataract, Pterygium, Glucoma as well as other complications. Cataract patients will get surgery at LNJP Eye Hospital or Sadar Hospital free of cost. Mr. Shyam Kishor has been appointed as Ophthalmic Assistant here and he registered 24 OPD on very first day.
Also 13 Sahiya Didis have participated in the event and Mr. Kirti Rawat (District Program Coordinator, REH) has briefed them about basics of eye care. He said regarding program’s commitment to reach at villages with eye health care with two more vision Centers at Barkagaon and Barkattha blocks of Hazaribag district. Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) and Dr. Jitendra Kumar (State Program Officer, Sightsavers) have played important role to expand REH program in the district.
