18 February 2021, Koderma: With support of NBJK & Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation-Mumbai, Koderma District Lok Samiti has organized a convention on Freedom From Intoxicants at local Barnwal hospice. Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti) was the chief guest on this occasion and inaugurated the program.

He said that any alert society and government must keep its citizens safe from liquor or any other intoxicants and applauded Bihar govt. for anti-liquor law which stopped free movement of drunkards on road and a better environment has been created there. Earlier people used to say about revenue loss and recession in tourism but such assumptions proved to be failed, he pointed out. The national president of Lok Samiti was of the view that a strong anti-liquor law is needed in not only Jharkhand but across India for our moral, social and economic development. He blamed liquor for inflaming superstition along with other malpractices and for spoiling of young generation now addicted to drugs even. He suggested to link religious leaders with Lok Samiti’s mass awareness drive against intoxicants and opined that individualist culture of foreign promotes liquor/drugs and people are suffering from mental diseases while there is no place for such things in our collective way of life.

Earlier Mr. Manoj Dangi (General Secretary, Koderma District Lok Samiti) welcomed Mr. Girija Satish, honored him by adorning with shawl and expressed solidarity with anti-liquor campaign by strengthening of the organization. Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, JSLS) referred to Sampurna Parivartan Yatra by Lok Samiti in Bihar before enforcement of anti-liquor law and got support from the audience over Lok Samiti’s memorandum to the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for liquor prohibition in the province. Mrs. Gauri Devi explained about anti-liquor campaign in Lariyadih village and charged men generally for non-cooperation. Ms Jyoti Kumari called liquor as the root cause of anti-women crimes and demanded to ban this evil immediately. Mrs. Soniya Devi praised for intoxicants free family & society as the first step to peace & prosperity. Mrs. Kiran Devi insisted to disallow all types of addiction and Mrs. Malti Devi talked about insensitive attitude of administration when villagers have tried to ban liquor in six villages. District Lok Samiti has honored these women and Mr. Musafir Ram for their effort to discard liquor from the villages.

Mr. Sanjay Sajan (Journalist) has focused upon bad effects of liquor and assured to support the campaign. Mr. Devnandan Yadav (Secretary, Satgawan Block Lok Samiti) said that intoxicants free families develop easily with education and prestige. Mr. Bhola Yadav and Mr. Ashok Dhobi (Members-Executive Committee, KDLS) appealed the people to support Lok Samiti for freedom from intoxicants campaign. Likewise Mr. Satish Kumar, Mr. Gautam Rana, Mr. Sanjay Munna (office bearers, Press Club) and Mr. Kunti Kumar Sahu (Media Coordinator, KDLS) have supported the issue raised by Lok Samiti.

The program was anchored by Ms Shabnam Arsi and concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Manoj Dangi. There were about 115 delegates of Lok Samiti, mostly women have participated in the event.
